Nocturnal Egg (Jordan) The Evolution Of Complexity explore une fois de plus le style du "cyberpunk retroism" mais l'atmosphère générale est toute autre par rapport à Form Dictates Function. Non seulement elle est plus spatiale et fabuleuse ("This Is Where We'll Remain") mais elle tente d'atteindre une humanité : désireux d'exploiter cette fameuse complexité, Holon fait passer ses rythmes electro pour de la batterie faite sur un drumkit (on s'y croirait presque sur "Pillars Of Creation"). Peut-être son plus bel album ! Favorite track: Pillars Of Creation.

The sciency setting brings me back to Red Fog but this is more melodic, and slightly less mysterious.

Mark Rydyger est très productif quand il s'agit de créer des albums pour Holon ; pour sylac, il suit plutôt la philosophie du "tout ou rien", Entropic Decay étant sa deuxième sortie de 2021. Un de ces projets que j'ai pris le temps de découvrir grâce à Poesy Rider (qui connaît tous les bons trucs : ça, ça ne change pas). Survival Mechanism, premier album de l'entité sylac, fait un mélange de synthwave et de musique industrielle. Ne cherchez pas chez lui les envolées de pure agression comme avec PERTURBATOR ou Carpenter Brut : ici, tout est agencé de manière glaçante ("All According To Plan" dont le titre est cruellement juste), probablement parce que les machines ont déjà gagné...
