La femme nous doux

@houseoflilies

poetry , art , music , opera and fanfic I am currently obsessed with Hannibal lecter , classical music and French poetry and cenima feel free to share thoughts "I look at my life and remember that hapless little girl , and I think, How did all this happen? This is the thing that puzzles me about the mystery of life. I could never have organized any of this, or even imagined it. My life has been written by someone else, not by me. I don't know who's running the show, but whoever it is has an excellent sense of humor."

Dr lecter , kind regards , do you enjoy classical ballet ? I was watching the royal ballet romeo and julliet ball and naghadi and I thought about you , you'd enjoy it sm , also studying the depth of ur behaviour and trauma, your views on the world have impacted me more than anything actually , thank you xoxoxox

Hello, dear Anonymous. I am flattered you thought of me while watching a ballet. But I must confess, I have not watched many ballets; I am more partial to symphonies and operas. However, when I was a young man in Florence, I had the privilege of going to see Mikhail Baryshnikov perform "Carmen" with Natalia Makarova at the Teatro alla Scala. It was a wonderful experience, and one I greatly wish I could relive.

I do wish to watch "Romeo and Juliet" performed sometime. I greatly enjoy the story, and I am an avid enjoyer of classical music. Seeing the ballet performed would be of great merriment to me.

Regarding my... behaviour and... trauma? I have a past, yes. May I kindly inquire as to how my views on the world have impacted you? My curiosity has gotten the better of me.

Rosa Chacel, from a diary entry featured in Diario, originally published in 1993

Something that I first applied to working with children, and have applied in a limited form to working with adults: you don't need to tell someone when they read your instructions wrong. Sometimes it's enough to point out what they did right and then whatever they didn't do? You ask them to do it in more precise words, and you make it sound like it's a new request. Remarkable how fast things get done this way.

This is also a habit I built up from emergency response training. If I say "I need you to bring me a first aid kit and an accident report" and you bring me just a first aid kit, it's so much more efficient to say "thanks now can you bring me an accident report" than "I asked you to bring an accident report why didn't you bring me one".

Once you've internalized "a person bleeding out is one of the worst times to start an argument" you start to wonder what other tasks could get accomplished without arguing

Girl this is so helpfully xoxoxoxo

Pro tip: If you copy and paste a link that said “no free articles” into a private/incognito browser, it will let you read the whole thing.

also if u press the “esc” (escape) key on ur laptop before the page fully loads, it won’t load any pop-ups blocking u from reading. if the article has images, then this method sometimes does not u see them. but! the words will be fine :)

If the site is particularly badly designed, you might just be able to delete the overlay itself. Right click > Inspect element and delete the line of HTML (it’ll be highlighted automatically)

hey kids there is a website called outline.com that will let you read from pretty much any news site with a paywall for free

outline.com is amazing - it hasn’t failed yet on any site that I’ve tried it on.

Look, these are all Cool Facts, but it doesn’t change the fact that most people won’t go to this level of trouble, and that those people are more and more likely to get radicalised by all of the right-wing media who aren’t behind pay walls.

Hallelujah to every participant of this reblog , may your crush love you back xoxoxoxoxox

In case you aren’t familiar, Michael Scott Moore and David Rohde are both journalists. Moore was held by Somali pirates for 977 days. Rohde was held captive by the Taliban for 7 months after being abducted in Afghanistan.
