schoolhater:

god. its really frustrating the way internet virality works. everyone who sees success can only do so at the expense of others.

both shahed and shaima+mohammed (wafaa’s siblings) were the initial targets of the recent wave of scam allegations, yet only shahed’s gofundme was spread and received support as a result. maybe this is because and shaima and mohammed are slightly older, more traditional people who can’t work the internet as well, maybe because they were less willing to share the intimate details of their pain online. maybe it’s plain luck. either way its pretty shitty that only one person received the proper support after all that abuse, and that everyone else is being ignored.

since shahed reached her goal i want to redirect all of our righteous anger and empathy toward some of the other palestinians who were primarily targeted by this hate campaign. many of the campaigns on this list are stagnating in the amount of donations they recieve, despite the amount of attention they’ve received lately. of course, everyone here is vetted by either 90-ghost or el-shab-hussein:

shaima and mohammed @wafans-blog, who was accused of being a scam for having the same organizer as shahed, even though that is very common with gofundmes. [verification]

mahmoud balousha @helpfamily, who was targeted by one of the biggest blogs on this website and likened to a porn account. [verification]

amira alanqar @amira-world , who was targeted by some arrogant bitch who thought they knew better than actual palestinians how to vet a fundraiser and who also claimed that there was no point in donating to palestinians because evacuations are uncommon. [verification]

basel ayyad @basel-1995, whose posting habits were scrutinized to an inhuman degree as an excuse to dehumanize him. [verification] (he has been vetted twice!)

basel’s cousin fadi ayyad. [verification]

heba al anqar @heba-baker, who was accused of being part of a belgian botnet because of her surname. [verification]

ahmed and abdulrahman al-nabih @ahmedalnabeeh11, who were accused of scamming for having relatives with chronic illnesses during a genocide. [verification]

and of course:

omar saad, ahmed @/90-ghost’s brother, who is still in khan yunis with his family. ahmed, our sole vetter for a while, has gone through immeasurable abuse in the past week and we all owe it to him as people who have benefited from his labor to take one burden off his shoulders. [verification]

One time my grandfather picked me up from the airport and was driving me home and asked if I wanted to stop at McDonald’s. And I was like sure, we can stop at the one in [town].

And he was like “we don’t need to go to [town], we’ll just go to the one in your town. And I said my town doesn’t have a McDonald’s. And he was like "okay, we’ll go to the closest one”. And I was like right, the one in [town]. And he said “that’s twenty minutes away from your house, you really don’t have one closer?” And when I confirmed that he said “well, it doesn’t have to be McDonald’s. It can be whatever fast food place is in your town.” And I was like there is no fast food in my town. There is no food in my town period unless you want to stop for gas station hot dogs. And he was like “that doesn’t make any sense. Then what do you do when you need food?” And I said I drive to [town]. And he said “every single time you need food or groceries?” And I said yeah, that’s sort of how the fixed nature of buildings work. And then we drove in silence for ten minutes while this man tried to wrap his head around the fact that I had to drive twenty minutes to town to go grocery shopping.

Anyway a lot of you remind me of this experience pretty much every time the urban/rural divide comes up on this website.

I’m really enjoying that this is picking up notes because most of them are people like “oh yeah, 20 minutes isn’t even that bad, I have to drive an hour to my [town]” and then there’s a handful of people freaking out like “oh my god, are Americans okay??? Shouldn’t your government be doing something about this????”

Idk what the government is gonna do about it man, I think me and my 6 neighbors within walking distance are just gonna have to keep driving to [town]

Reading through the notes on this is wild because they seem to fall into three groups:

  1. Yeah, same.
  2. I flatly refuse to believe such a place is possible. You’re all making this up.
  3. I wouldn’t want to live in a place like that, so obviously nobody would, and it should be illegal for these places to exist.

salt lamp fact: if you put it on finished wood the wood will get really really mad and never stop being mad &then both of you are mad and still need more salt

My sister ate her salt lamp

thoughtful present idea for all those sisters out there!

a screenshot of a product image of himalayan pink salt lick for horsesALT

all of you are right. while someone who survived eating a piece of salt furniture is probably more likely to survive salt intended for horses, I need higher standards for this bit. and a lot of you have a lot of thoughts about salt already. do the research for me and I will use it forever. show me the highest quality, human-safe, horse-sized (medium to large salt lamp sized) salt licks!

I think they do make human salt licks. They’re just cubes of salt. Idk if that’d help you though, it seems inconvenient.

image

I am not asking for giant human salt lick recommendations for medical treatment for me. I am asking for giant human salt lick recommendations so all the #women out there in the world stop having to eat entire salt lamps

More info now that I’m home from work:

She kept it on her nightstand and as she ate it over time, the salt × saliva combo kind of liquefied the salt a bit and got all over her nightstand too and she just left it there so she could use the lightbulb on the base as a lamp.

So the surface/container it’s in will also need to be considered when buying your sister a horse sized salt lick.

December 05 marked the anniversary of the massacre of striking workers of the United Fruit Company on the Caribbean coast of Colombia in 1928, where thousands were killed. The company responsible is known today as “Chiquita.”

Please stop what you’re doing right now. Stop everything. If you’re eating, put your hands down. If you’re drinking, stop what you’re buying. If you’re playing, stop playing. If you’re on a trip or at work, please just listen to me for a moment. Please don’t ignore what I’m about to say.

What’s happening here today is unbearable. Gaza is not well, even after what you call a ceasefire. We still can’t return to our homes, and we pay exorbitant rents every month. We buy food at very high prices; we even have to pay for water. The war hasn’t stopped. Every day there’s shelling and gunfire. Please, don’t let the Zionist media deceive you into thinking Gaza is living in luxury. We are suffering. There’s no infrastructure, and there are none of the basic necessities of life.

Israel has spent $900,000 on media outlets to spread the false narrative that Gaza is doing well. This Zionist project, targeting pro-Zionist Western influencers, has been expanded to an estimated $3 million to conceal the truth from you. Please don’t let them deceive you. We are not doing well here; we are suffering and need help. We need your donations. Please help us and donate to us.

No one can care about our safety and situation here, please guys don’t ignore to help us, we need your support now, please please donate and share

Don’t leave us alone, please guys help us, donate whatever you can

Why no body can donate, please guys share and donate if you can, don’t forget us please please

Guys, just 600 euros to reach, please donate and share if possible

Don’t leave us alone please Gus, share and donate please

Please guys share and donate now

Please please donate and share if can’t

Please donate and do what you can. The only wrong action is no action.

it’s always funny to me when people are shocked that more expensive eggs still come from factory farms and not chickens roaming in a field. it would be impossible for a company to produce eggs at the same rate as factory farms WITHOUT factory farming…if it’s able to be restocked in a grocery store regularly, it probably comes from a factory farm

something something the prevalence of “crunchy” rich people in the first world being shocked by the reality of food processing and production has to do with how they’re entirely disconnected from the production aspect of the products they’re buying. the world you want to exist never has!

You should be able to have zero dollars to your name and still have everything you need to survive, dependable housing, food, water, clothing, personal care necessities like soap and deodorant and toilet paper and period products, medicine and the prescriptions/healthcare you need to live comfortably… not everyone’s life should be focused on the accumulation of wealth, and yet society is structured around earning money being the only way to survive or do anything at all. Some humans are really good at earning money because it gives them purpose but that shouldn’t be how everyone has to live

doubly funny that I saw a compilation of all the corporate accounts like “aw thanks elmo, we’re doing well” meanwhile all the flesh and blood real human people are extremely not okay

Okay but Elmo had actually the best and sweetest response to all this trauma dumping:

image

And then all the other Sesame Street character accounts joined in:

image

And now I’m thinking maybe we’re gonna be okay… 💗

(Comment compilation from this Twitter)

I kinda feel for the poor person running Elmo’s Twitter.

“So, boss… I may have messed up.”

“What did you do, Ray?”

“Well, I made a post for Elmo saying ‘Hi, how’s everybody doing?’”

“I mean, that’s kind of what we pay you for.”

“Yeah, but…. <sigh> it turns out pretty much everyone is hanging on by a thread, badly enough that they needed to tell Elmo.”

Oh.

“God help me, boss, I think Elmo needs to be there for them.”

“Get the others.”

this is the energy that jim henson would be proud of.

and important addition
