Random fic idea #73: Alfred Pennyworth isn’t just Bruce’s guardian after the Waynes die, he’s their “heir” temporarily until Bruce reaches adulthood, at least for the purposes of high society. He has to go to the events in their honor, shake hands, wear the fancy clothes and dazzle investors in their stead, all the while teaching Bruce how to navigate the waters of such a complicated world. Alfred becomes a socialite in Thomas and Martha’s stead, at their request, and this protects Bruce from undue attention before he reaches the age of majority. A “growing up in royal court” AU but for modern Gotham, as a “lowly servant” finds himself thrust into a glittering world with an innocent, traumatized child at his side and a legacy he must uphold for the next decade.

-----and one night at the gala of the year, Alfred is thrust into conversation with a wealthy businessman from overseas. A witty individual, Alfred finds himself actually enjoying the company, in no small part because the man recognizes Alfred from his theatre days, being a lover of the arts, and because the man's daughter is one of the few people Bruce will willingly interact with.

A one minutre greeting turns into an hour-long conversation, and becomes an arrangement to meet outside the gala under the pretext of the children interacting. . . Thus beginning Alfred's short fling with Ra's Al Ghul, the only man to catch his interest after Thomas and Martha's passing.

It should've been a sweet love story, but Alfred's affection crumpled to ash after Ra's revealed his plans to train Bruce a successor for the league of shadows via kidnapping the child to take to Nanda Parbat.

Thus the scandalous butler/ecoterrorist love story becomes lover to enemies toxic yaoi, the way God intended.

It's spreading 😭😭😭

I’ve been laughing at “fuck this lemon you take it” for several minutes

curling is my two friends and i really want to put a watermelon in that exact spot, but the floor disagrees

relay racing is "here, you take this leek"

fencing is “I stab thee with a leek”

I mean this in the most respectful way possible but some people really could use a reminder that if your blorbo isn’t your own original character, you do not own them — and that means there will be people who involve your blorbo in things or ships that you hate. “but it’s incest”, “but it’s adult x minor”, “but it’s rape”, “but it’s abusive”, “but my blorbo would never do that”. well, there is nothing you can do about that.

and as long as no one in real life is being hurt, your call out posts against them and your encouraging other people to harass them will not make you morally superior, it will only make you a bully who values the nonexistent lives of fictional characters more than real living, breathing people.

thought crimes are not real. fantasies are not real. no living thing is being harmed because of someone’s dark fantasies. the fictional characters you try to protect are not real, they don’t have life or feelings. they are just fantasies that people play with.

more often than not, the people you call red flags or predators, for involving fictional characters in dark fantasies, are victims who use dark fantasies, in an environment they can control, to cope and heal from their trauma.

but even if someone was never a victim, they still have the rights to freely express their thoughts through fantasies, be it fanfics or fan art or anything else.

the bottom line is that no one in real life is harmed and no one owes anyone any explanation as to why they create and/or enjoy dark fantasies.

(if, hypothetically, someone lets fiction affect their mind so much to the point that they harm real people in real life, then the issue, the real problem is that person’s inability to separate fiction from reality, not the fiction they consume and/or create that have taboo contents in them — and chances are that they are already troubled and a danger to themself and those around them, with or without the fiction they consume.)

“things that are taboo and morally wrong have no place in fandom” actually what has no place in fandom is fandom police. the point of fandom is for people to have fun. you don’t own the fandom you’re in. you don’t own the fictional characters that you love (unless they’re your own oc). other people have as much rights within fandom space as you do, and that is “as long as you have fun, you can enjoy your favorite fictional characters however you want”.

there are things in fiction that I don’t like, things that make me extremely uncomfortable. what I do is that I ignore, scroll past, mute or block them when I see them and I mind my own business. I don’t harass real people over fiction.

it’s really important to curate your own internet/fandom experiences, protect your own peace of mind and Not Be a Bully. mute/block what you don’t want to see, instead of harassing real people for the sake of fictional characters.

important message, but also very important disclaimer:

These “taboo” or “uncomfortable” things NEED TO BE TAGGED SO PEOPLE CAN AVOID THEM

if there isn’t a tag to block, you are posting that to a board in the center of town. Is it okay for everyone to see that? yes? no tags needed. does viewing need to be filtered? will some people not want to see that? yes? it needs to be tagged appropriately

My child, who spends their entire life being transfered from home to car to school and back, and is not allowed to leave the house or talk to anyone and can only in their wildest dreams imagine a life free from constant surveillance, is very sad. Obviously they're dumb and lazy, like all kids these days.

kind of a tangent but i recently went to a bowling alley with my friend i'm 19 he's 18 and the woman at the door didn't want to let us in because there was a sign saying under-18s needed adult supervision. everything got cleared up and we were able to go bowl, but i'm still so mad about the fact that kids need adult supervision to go to a bowling alley and arcade. like okay maybe young kids should have supervision but what do you mean middle and high schoolers need to hold mommy's hand while they play video games. kids aren't just addicted to their phones because phones are addicting, we're addicted to our phones because there's nothing else to fucking do

I'm sure banning kids from online spaces while simultaneously not ensuring that they have access to offline spaces to socialize in (without having to rely on their parents who already don't have time for them) will help them feel better & less alienated from society.

"Don't say your character growled, he isn't an animal!" okay but have you considered that i am intentionally drawing that parallel for a reason. he is dangerous, he is feral, he is ready to attack like a dog or a jungle beast. words have these things called connotations that allow them to carry layers and layers of meaning that would otherwise take sentences to convey--sentences that wouldn't do it as well as "he growled." i say this as an english major and as someone who has been writing for over ten years: "growled" is a valid word choice when you want your readers to know that your character fucking growled.

Also!

People can mimic growling very accurately!

~~ maybe they were growling ~~

transmascs shouldn't die, actually

like the fundamental hating on transmascs and trying to create a war within our community is disgusting and awful. we're supposed to be united as a community, especially during a time where our existence is being erased, our rights being taken away, and more. while someone online is literally telling my fellow transmascs to die because they are simply transmascs, our rights are being taken and we're being wiped off the fucking map. what do people not understand that this is unnecessary infighting? that fighting amongst ourselves does fucking nothing? we need to be united not because of our differences in transitioning, but because we're all trans and people are trying to make us suffer simply because we're trans

not sure what hellscape arguments this person has seen, but this is a good an necessary point
