The Silt Verses is the only “queernormative world where everyone is fine with you being gay or trans, but not aromantic/asexual, that’s still weird and unacceptable” I’m here for because they drill down into it. Amatonormativity as a tool of control, love as something that can be commodified in the name of capitalism and weaponized in the name of patriotism. Love can be used to sell a story or keep people in line. But aromanticism? Asexuality? The capitalist and political and religious and social powers can’t use those and thus they are something suspicious and unacceptable.
