THERE it is.

First of all: I cannot stress enough that GOFUNDMES TELL YOU RIGHT UP FRONT IF THEY’RE FAKE.

Look at who the Tumblr post says it’s for. Click through and scroll down. Is that who the GoFundMe says is the beneficiary: the person the money is for? Or is it the organizer, in another country they GoFundMe actually works in?

Almost every single one I’ve ever seen on Tumblr has said, openly, that it’s fake.

As in, it claims to be fundraising for Noha Ayyad and her family to escape Gaza, for example…

but right down at the bottom, it says Noha Ayyad in Columbus, Ohio is the organizer, for a beneficiary called Jackie H.

(screenshot of the bottom of that very same GoFundMe, where it says, "Organizer and beneficiary Noha Ayyad Organizer Columbus, OH Jackie E Beneficiary Words of support Please donate to share words of support. mask bloc Seattle: $436 - 1 year [ago] from our winter fundraiser, love and" it's cut off there by a pop-up announcing that the fundraiser is at 97%: $101,425 raised of 105K)ALT

Almost every single fucking one.

image

I thought about creating a sideblog to “un-vet” all the fundraisers that claim to be vetted because some big-name blog reblogged them. Or that got put on a spreadsheet, but shouldn’t have been. Or CLAIM they’re on a vetted spreadsheet and even give the line number - but aren’t.

But there are too many. There are more being posted and tagged all the time.

I tried to make a spreadsheet, once, tracking how many of the ones in the tag were fake right then. But it was all of them, as far down as I had time to go.

And it’s not worth it. People won’t reblog a post saying a fundraiser is fake.

Not least because a lot of the people pretending to vet these things have LOUDLY attacked people in the past for asking how they vet them.

Or saying fundraisers are fake.

Or exposing ones they’re lying about.

I’m really tired of being nice and tactful and friendly in trying to point these out.

I’m hyper-aware that the pro-Palestine movement has divided into (1) rageful people who see Hamas - not Gazan activists - as the Palestinian Resistance, and attack anyone who opposes Hamas (including and especially Gazan activists) as “a Zionist” or “an Israeli shill,” and (2) people who quietly care about Palestinians, and can’t stomach this shit anymore.

The latter mostly reblog fundraisers. Because that seems like a good way to be supportive and care and spread awareness.

The former… well, some of them split their time between hateposting vitriolic disinformation, and boosting fundraisers.

You remember how I mentioned just now that Gaza has an entire activist movement, and Hamas ain’t it?

One of the Gazan activists in the diaspora is Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib.

He grew up in Gaza. But he was in Egypt in 2007, when Hamas staged its violent coup, kicking the Palestinian government out of Gaza. And he couldn’t return to its new dictatorship. (That link is an essay by another one, Hamas Howidy, who fled to Germany in August 2023.)

Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib has lost many family members in the war. He’s in touch with many more, so he hears a lot about what’s happening in everyday Gazan life. He’s done a lot to fight for peace and to increase aid delivery.

And he just posted this.

Hamas’s intelligence base in Al-Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, Southern Gaza Strip: Hamas’s intelligence services have started going after a friend of mine and their children in the Gaza Strip after they stumbled into a vast Europe-based money laundering operation for the terror… pic.twitter.com/VFql5DY3M1 — Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib (@afalkhatib) January 2, 2026ALT

Hamas’s intelligence base in Al-Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, Southern Gaza Strip:

Hamas’s intelligence services have started going after a friend of mine and their children in the Gaza Strip after they stumbled into a vast Europe-based money laundering operation for the terror group based in Belgium.

Two days ago, they received a notice from the internal security services of Hamas to head to the al-Nasser Hospital for interrogation on New Year’s Day, while their son was already called up for round 1 and had just received notice for round 2 of the interrogation.

At the heart of this mess is a Belgium-based individual who collected hundreds of thousands of Euros from different people, and sent them to Gaza, supposedly for charitable purposes and for people to send to their families.

Instead, this man was an agent of a significant Hamas security commander in Gaza’s internal intelligence service.

Worse, the commander is hiding in plain view before the whole world and pretending to be a “journalist,” something he used to lure multiple parties into the scam, including a vast network of Moroccan donors.

The Hamas commander falsified birth certificates for supposed orphaned children who were killed by Israel, and collected hundreds of thousands of dollars to “take care of them,” only for that money to be funneled to Hamas.

My friend was part of those who were scammed by the Belgian-based Gazan “asylum seeker,” after their child in Europe sent money with the Hamas agent, only for large sums of it to go missing.

The scammer in Belgium stopped sending money to Gaza after he claimed that his account was frozen by Belgian authorities, when, in fact, this very claim was part of the scam after he had collected a large amount of money. Following months of demanding repayment, the scammer was spotted traveling on luxurious vacations, and finally said that he would not return any of the funds to those affected.

I’m refraining from using names and identifying details to protect my friend and their children.

Today, Hamas took them to the Administration Building of the al-Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza (see attached photo). In the basement is an intelligence base that’s used for interrogation. A senior operations officer asked that my friend stop talking about this subject, or else they would spend every day in interrogation, and their children would face “a terrible fate.” Worse, female interrogators were brought in to urge my friend to drop the topic and “forget about the money” and all parties involved.

There are detailed receipts, names, dates, locations, layouts, and more – all of which will be provided to European authorities (and others) to dismantle this Hamas money laundering network.

I’m sharing this as a warning to the terror group in Gaza because I know they are looking and watching: back off and simmer down, for your scam is up. My friend asked that, should anything happen to them, I will share every detail publicly with the entire world.

Hamas has turned all of Gaza’s hospitals into MAJOR police, intelligence, and security headquarters, a flagrant criminal violation of international humanitarian law and basic human decency.

Also, it’s time for Belgium to stop being a platform for Islamist terrorists and their operations, intelligence, money laundering, and propaganda.

SO MANY of the fake fundraisers I’ve seen have involved people in Brussels, Belgium.

So fucking many.

Also, please note that he said Islamist, not Islamic.

“Islamist” is to Islam as Christian Nationalism is to Christianity.

It’s not the religion. It’s violent far-right control freaks who want power.

The pro-Palestine movement is a failure huge success for Hamas. It got people to switch seamlessly from “Hamas does not represent Palestinians!” in 2023 to “There are no protests against Hamas in Gaza, Hamas is the resistance and anything it did was justified* a few months later.

It got people to silence, erase, and speak over Gazans.

People who normally would have centered and platformed Gazan activists, coordinated with their protests, and signal boosted their demands, instead preemptively blocked, denied, or never even heard of them.

Nobody even questioned whether there were any Palestinian peace or human rights activists. Much less why they weren’t hearing about them.

A massive movement got weaponized, and milked, for a hate group that deliberately hunts both Jews and Gazans.

My favouritest sport fact ever is that in 1990s 2 cardiac surgeons watched an f1 race to save the lives of countless kids. The Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH) kept losing the lives of patients after successful heart surgeries. Specifically the 10-15 minutes after a bonefide clinically successful surgery patients would die:

image
image

And so the two surgeons filmed a handover after heart surgery and sent it to the Ferrari pitcrew who were told to critique and improve handover process

image

And from this:

image
image

we got this:

image
image

The error rate during patien handovers dropped from 30% to 10% with the F1 informed protocol.

I literally love this fact so much because being an pitcrew member is such a thankless job because theyre underpaid and overworked mechanics and they literally saved lives in this instance.

I love this!

And it that it wasn’t a one and done.

The doctors went to the race tracks to watch the car changes and the pit crews went to the hospitals and watched a live transfer and offered suggestions and they kept working with them to improve.

After there was a successful improvement of the most vital metrics of a handover of a patient from surgery to ICU, the pit crews also worked with other hospitals for other procedures and it’s now a whole thing of trying to apply the specialized, streamlined and speedy teamwork and nonverbal coordination of pit crews to other high-risk fields.

This is a perfect example of how two very different fields of knowledge meeting can make a huge leap forward in progress.

As a caregiver, I’m tired of people asking,“Do you wipe ass for a living?”

This isn’t inherently because it’s disrespectul to my job, though it is and us caregivers do SO much more than that; we’re taking care of people. That’s 10% or less of the job.

It’s the genuine DISRESPECT of my clients that bother me.

Do NOT speak about my client like they’re a dog. “Do you wipe ass for a living?” You could not have phrased that in a more insensitive, ableist, and dehumanizing way.

Incontenience care is NORMAL.

It is NOT gross, weird, immature, or anything else besides normal.

My clients have felt ashamed for normal things like needing their briefs changed or having to do toiletry and everytime I reassure them they’re completely fine and not doing anything wrong. It breaks my heart to see them so embarassed over a normal bodily function, esepcially when they still feel so even though I signed up to do this.

Maybe the elderly or disabled wouldn’t be so ashamed of basic things that ARE normal if people didn’t make it sound like it was the most absurd, repulsive, and gross thing ever.

Please be mature. If you are an adult and cannot comprehend someone needing toilet assistance without making it weird or sound gross, then you really really need to grow up.

I don’t really like making aggressive sounding posts or scolding posts, because every single person is learning and we all make mistakes, but gosh guys, this really bothers me.

Stop making people feel bad and THINK about what you’re saying when refering to another human being before you say it. I will NEVER tolerate this disrespect for these people I’m taking care of who trust me.

The thing is, even if you were lucky and your parents taught you how to clean, they probably didn’t teach you how to clean the stuff you clean stuff with, like brushes, mops, sponges, rags, and so on. Or how to clean your cleaning appliances, like a dish washer, clothes washing machine, and clothes dryer and its ducts (if you have a ducted dryer), or a carpet cleaner, vacuum, Or how to clean up clean messes, like spilled bleach or detergent.

My parents threw away all of these things (even the vacuum cleaners and the dryer) when they got too dirty to function, because no one even told them THAT they could be cleaned. Cost them thousands of dollars over the years.

All I’m saying is that cleaning is not intuitive, and not knowing how to clean is not a moral failing, but it is something you can learn.

I’m going to reblog this post with resources for learning how to clean things and how to clean cleaning things (I’m not at my desk at the moment). If you have any favorites, please feel free to add them in too!

I like this video because it does a great job of introducing the basic foundations of house cleaning (and because he doesn’t use bleach, which is a common allergy in addition to being awful to inhale). He also talks a little about how to clean a vacuum. And why you shouldn’t put grease from your pots and pans down the sink drain. I also love that he mentions that different houses and different people have different needs and different versions of what clean and cleaning looks like.

He doesn’t mention though that the toilet seat comes off. I take my toilet seat off to clean under the hinges and clean the seat more thoroughly once a quarter.

This is another video from the same guy about cleaning and depression. This advice, especially at the beginning, can feel really really difficult and oppressive to hear. However, I find that it’s generally pretty solid. But I’m autistic and so is he, so that gets a massive Your Mileage May Vary stamp on it.

I have a favorite part of this video. It’s from 10:52 to 12:36. I think we could all use to hear that. There’s a HEFTY pause after that one. I promise the narration does come back.

I’m also going to recommend KC Davis’ book “How To Keep House While Drowning”

This is a pair of videos about how to correctly load and use a dish washer.

The first one is a quick 1 minute 30 second overview on loading. I can’t find the exact video I’m looking for, so consider this a substitute for that. If I can find the one I’m looking for, I’ll swap it in.

The second is a half hour deep dive on dishwashers and detergents. The short form of that is you shouldn’t need to pre-rinse anything, detergent pods are overpriced and can cause problems, some dishwashers have a filter in the bottom that needs to be cleaned (but most don’t), run your sink until the water is HOT before starting your dish washer, and put a little detergent in the pre-rinse dispenser when you’re washing extra dirty dishes (or on the inside of the door if your dishwasher doesn’t have a pre-rinse dispenser).

Here’s a blog post about scrubbing brushes and how to clean them.

And a video for all cleaning tools, including scrub brushes. This video does use bleach. I’ll try to find some alternatives to that.

How to clean a front load washer (with bleach). This should be done monthly or every time you wash really soiled clothes.

How to clean a top loader (without the removable agitator thing). This should be done every 1-3 months depending on you unit, or every time you wash really soiled clothes.

How to clean a top loader (with the removable agitator thing). This should be done every month, or every time you wash really soiled clothes.

This video is for pet owners.

These carpet brushes are a LIFE SAVER if you have dogs. This thing allows me to go from vacuuming about 4 square feet before my vacuum is full to vacuuming half the living room (I don’t vacuum often enough. You should vacuum weekly, and I just can’t.). I have to unclog the vacuum less often. It fluffs up some of the flat spots in the carpet. And I also use the brush to shampoo my rugs in the spring.

A spot cleaner (or a carpet cleaner with a spot cleaner attachment) is another life saver, ESPECIALLY if you can afford to splurge on a heated one. I see them at Goodwill or at yard sales occasionally, and they’re worth picking up. The shark one in the video is great too.

This channel is gold. There’s tutorials for cleaning EVERYTHING on there. Just go subscribe!

Gonna throw another potential resource at the end of this very long list, which may be potentially helpful for others like me who loathe videos. It’s… the weirdest thing that has genuinely been helpful to me in housekeeping. Absolutely full of useful advice, and bizarrely still relevant in large part. (Though, caveat, research ANYTHING to do with chemicals or cleaning products more complicated than vinegar + lemon + water for modern information.)

It’s America’s Housekeeping Book (1941). Available for free download on the Internet Archive. (Large PDF file at the link here).

The LISTS y'all. The step by step lists. The emphasis on efficiency and arranging spaces for the least resistance possible. The basic concept of “take a tray or basket into a room when you are tidying up so you can put things that belong elsewhere on it and take them out LATER in ONE GO”.

My ADHD-having ass could cry.

Okay, I love everything about this hall of mirrors:

  • Traditional mirror mazes are dark and creepy. This one is brightly lit, and colorful.
  • The triangular grid makes it that much more disorienting.
  • The pillars help to obscure the difference between the mirrors and the openings – so it doesn’t NEED to be dark.

All of this combines to make it much more fun and entertaining and much less “I gotta get out of here before Mr. Dark drags me off to the soul-sucking carousel”.

btw, here’s the trick for a mirror maze: look at the floor. even in this video, whenever you can see the floor, it’s easy to see which way isn’t mirrors

Nope! Regular maze. Fine. I could maybe eventually figure it out. This where I can’t easily tell what is a path or not? I would get claustrophobia and freak out! How can I tell without ever being in a maze like that? Just watching this video alone is giving me anxiety and making me feel like I am trapped.

Close your eyes and do it by touch, y'all. Just run one hand along the wall and follow the wall until you get out. Then laugh at your friends still bumping into the mirrors.

Everyone: Californians are such whimps about the weather. “Oh no there’s half an inch of rain, whatever shall i do?”

Also everyone: When there’s a hurricane you should never drive through water more than six inches deep, water that’s a high as your ankle is enough to sweep you away.

Every major street in southern California when there’s half an inch of rain: I used to be a dry riverbed in a desert, but today I am a river again :)

This isn’t even bad, it’s just an entire lane turned into a Slip & Slide for about half a mile.

image

“Don’t you people have storm drains?”

Yes.

image

They’re why the slip & slide isn’t over the curb here.

image

Reviving this meme from when Australians and the British were complaining about our weather and not being taken seriously. I absolutely feel you, best of luck with your rough weather

Hey, so funny story: The most robust storm drains I know of are designed for 100 year floods. I doubt anywhere in the US requires anything more robust.

But that means they’re based on *local* rainfall.

If an area gets ½ an inch an average of once in 100 years, then it’ll be designed to take care of it. It it’s instead a storm that happens an average of once in 500 years then you’re hosed.

100/500/1000 year floods are terms that emergency management is trying to phase out, because they give the wrong impression about the likelihood of something happening.

A “100 year” flood isn’t something that happens once a century, it is a flood that has a 1 in 100 chance of happening ANY year. So a “100 year flood” has a 1% chance of happening every year. A “500 year” flood has a 0.2% chance of happening every year. A “1000 year” flood has a 0.1% chance of happening every year.

There’s still issues with people not taking the percentages seriously, but it at least removes the issue of people thinking these sort of events are once in a lifetime things, so if it happened within memory you don’t need to worry about it anymore because it already happened.

As for the storm drain thing, yeah, most either weren’t designed to handle the levels of rain they actually experience, or they WERE but they’re so poorly maintained it doesn’t matter.

There’s actually a guy on TikTok who does really great comparisons of the FEMA flood maps and how they stack up to reality, with the result being that they’re nearly always way underestimating on the official maps. I.E., what the expected flood levels are tend to be a fair amount–if not a significant amount–lower than the floods actually end up being. And those maps are used for things like city planning, storm water runoff and holding, etc. So you can imagine the issues those maps being wrong can lead to, resulting in issues like the ones mentioned in this post even if the local water management systems are designed to “handle” it.

Yes, really.

Now, I’m presuming that the OED means that 1826 is the first usage they could find of the word “goy” in English, and I am going to clown on anybody who didn’t hear “the word goy was first used in 1826” and think, “well that can’t be right,” but I do think the OED could be clearer there.

To me, this post is proof that Iranians aren’t fighting merely theocracy. They’re resisting Islam as a whole. They’re rebelling against the Muslims.

They’re specifically rebelling against centuries of Islamic colonialism tho, not against The Muslims.

It IS different this time. The protestors have actually taken ground, but as of 11 Jan 2026, at the cost of at least 200 lives. Pro-regime forces have taken casualties too, meaning that for the protestors, it’s now do or die, the uprising must succeed or the retaliation would result in many thousands of executions.

This is not a battle that can be helped with donations or volunteering - this is one of propaganda.

You have real friends and supporters around the world who have consistently denounced the Iranian regime and who recognise the moral catastrophe of the Islamic Revolution. I am glad to see you condemn the so-called “human rights activists” who have not supported your people. No weekly marches in the street for Iran. I wonder why. Remember how people only discussed Mahsa Amini in 2022, then promptly forgot about her come October 2023 and began supporting her murderers instead.

I also find it disgusting how millions forgot about the random poisonings of Iranian schoolgirls in late 2022. Girls suddenly started getting sick. Nobody has investigated who ordered these poisonings, although I have my suspicions. No case brought to the ICC. Iran has also carried out a record-high number of arbitrary executions. I remember a group of three Iranian men who were executed on wholly trumped-up charges; one was reportedly tortured in prison. This is routine under the Islamic regime. Yet the United Nations held a minute’s silence for the Butcher of Tehran, Ebrahim Raisi, following his death.

You say that these protests are more intense than the WomanLifeFreedom protests, yet I have seen at least two news outlets claiming the exact opposite. I sincerely hope those news outlets are wrong, and that this will be the end of Ayatollah Khamenei’s murderous, terroristic regime.

The collapse of the Islamic Revolution will bring enormous benefits inside and outside of Iran. First, the Iranian people will no longer have to live under the fanatical dictates of Khomeini and Khamenei, both decrepit and morally bankrupt tyrants. Second, the scourge of Islamic terrorism will suffer a devastating blow, as Iran is probably the most insidious exporter of Islamic terror worldwide, and one of the most dangerous terrorist states in the world. Iran’s terror proxies, such as Hamas and Hezbollah, will lose their main sponsor. Third, countries that have suffered from the long arm of Iranian propaganda and terrorism will be strengthened. This includes countries from Lebanon to Australia. Fourth, the collapse of Ayatollah Khamenei’s regime will be a severe blow to Russia, which has already witnessed the collapse of Bashar al-Assad’s terrorist regime in Syria. Russia has depended upon Iran for Shahed drones to use in its terrorist war against Ukraine. A rational, law-abiding Iranian government would cut ties with Russia, damaging Russia’s war effort. Fifth, all of the stupid moral cowards in the West who defended the Iranian regime will be shown up as the fools that they really are, and hopefully, nobody will listen to them again.

It’s a win-win situation.

Freedom and peace to the brave Iranians fighting these tyrants.

Down with the Islamic Revolution!
