“you can’t be punk, it’s just not possible” has sincerely become my stance on punk. it’s just not possible
The only thing that’s punk is arguing about what is and isn’t punk
there’s nothing punk about semantics or classification actually. it’s just not possible
this post made me angry so i went to listen to my FAVOURITE PUNK ALBUMS that i have on CASSETTE (the punkest medium) but i couldn’t find them. they were gone. i tried looking them up but the names turned to meaningless fluff in my mind as i typed. it didn’t feel like it meant anything anymore. I tried to remember what they sounded like but could recall nothing. I’m saying the word “punk” out loud to myself but it just sounds like noise. I’m not sure i’m even saying it right. was it ever real?
Duuude don’t question my version of events I’m such a reliable narrator. I’m literally the protagonist and the main character. You can literally read some of my internal thoughts, that clearly means you have complete access to an objective view of my thoughts and feelings and a correct impression of my characterization and the events unfolding around me. I’m not omitting any information from the audience. Nevermind that timeskip just now
other artists will really be like “we need more weird art and creativity” and then openly make fun of someone for not having a conventional artstyle
it personally raises alarm in me as someone whose art got memed on years ago. people who say this and then turn around to become reactionary don’t actually care about art made with authenticity. they just want more conventionally appealing art that is just a lil weird to exist because they themselves refuse to engage in art that exits their own comfort zone.
there’s something so gut-wrenching to me about people, especially other artists, openly making fun of amateur or beginner artists like bro that was YOU at some point.
Today’s aesthetic: fictional characters whose whole deal is an allegory for the struggles faced by a real group that they’re actually part of.
It probably says something about this blog’s followership that half the people in the notes’ first thought was Madeline Celeste and not, like, a gay X-Man.
I can’t speak for other social media webbed sites but I really enjoy how tumblr seems to just completely spin a wheel on whatever media is hot right now. Like yeah sometimes it’s a new show that’s big and actively coming out but also sometimes there will be a solid month where half my dash is Columbo memes. Defy authority. Get really into an book from the 1800s. Watch shows that haven’t aired in 40 years. Celebrate the anniversary of the Boston Molasses Flood. Become unmarketable
