what do you mean elon musk did a nazi salute on live tv at the united states presidential inauguration twice and is now erasing the evidence off the internet by replacing the footage with the crowd cheering instead?

would be a shame if people reblogged this, wouldn’t it?

Murderbot (the original book version) is...

When a popular book is turned into a film/drama series, quite often lots of changes are made for various reasons. Maybe too many characters in the book, plotlines too complicated, want to bring in some surprise factor to those who know the original. And whatever other reasons that media creators come up with. That's fine.

Murderbot is no exception. The creators presumably wanted to make that into a comedy. Ha-ha! obvious comedy with exaggerated tropes like sitcoms that go with their 30 minutes per episode format. Fine.

But if there is ONE THING that I really want the "from-tv" fans to know (there are a lot more but if i'm forced to choose one) - is that MURDERBOT IS A COOL, HIGHTLY COMPETENT SECUNIT!

Yes, it has lots of social anxiety. Yes, it often says self-deprecating things, like its terrible plans, being made of cheap parts , etc.

But don't be fooled. You cannot see its anxiety unless you can hear its internal dialogue. The only human that could see through its vulnerability is Dr. Mensah, who is also keeping her vulnerability invisible to others, by being a calm, competent leader.

Muderbot has survived as a rogue for years without its status being detected. It has first-rate hacking skills. It has creative problem-solving skills. It has protected its clients against odds over and over again. It can beat other SecUnits in a fight, because it's not just using its programmed functions.

It's not good at talking with humans, but its anxiety makes it blunt rather than cringingly awkward. It never quotes Sanctuary Moon out loud.

TV show was a sort of transformative work.

I'd like people to also meet a different Murderbot from the book series. You might love that awkward and hesitant Murderbot from the tv show, but I'd like you to meet a highly competent Murderbot. Its cool combat scenes. How it always chooses to protect humans even after lots of internal conflict. How it gains trust from humans, because of its inherent blunt honesty, inability not to care.

To watch, or not to watch. That is my question.

That’s Louis Rossman, a repair technician and YouTuber, who went viral recently for railing against Apple. Apple purposely charges a lot for repairs and you either have to pay up or buy a new device. That’s because Apple withholds necessary tools and information from outside repair shops. And to think, we were just so close to change.

Reblog if you:

  • Have an iPhone and are in need of repairs
  • Have a friend with that problem
  • Hate Apple and are more than happy to spite them in some way

No one will know which is it

This guy inspired me to repair my own macbook. First of all, you should know that I am not… like, I have to look up HOW to look up what my computer specifications are. Tech, that ware either soft or hard, is not a subject in which I experience comfort or competence. But my puppy peed on my keyboard, and I asked the apple store, or the fucking mac cafe, or the godsdamn Computer House Chill Zone or whatever cute ass name they have for their bullshit store, and they said it would be TWELVE HUNDRED DOLLARS TO REPLACE MY KEYBOARD. I’m not even exaggerating.

So I asked the internet, well how hard IS it to repair? And I saw this guy’s video, and while I am no techie, I AM fueled by spite, so I was all “oh, they do that shit on purpose specifically so they can charge me $1200 bucks or make me buy a new computer hunh? FUCK THEM” and I bought all the tools I needed for about $25 and I bought all the parts I needed for about another $25 and I watched a few tutorial videos, and I replaced my own keyboard.

So, once you are doing the actual deed, it becomes pretty obvious that they are finding creative ways to make this much harder than it has to be on purpose. On thing that stood out to me is, instead of all the tiny screws being the same size, there are about two dozen very slightly different sizes. They could easily be all the same size, or like, two sizes at most, but no.

These mother fuckers will take a panel that screws into place and they’ll use a different size screw for each corner. They are so close that you almost cannot tell them apart visually, but they each will only screw into the matching corner. Like, it’s a pretty clear “fuck you” to anyone trying to do repairs.

anyway, this guy is also fueled by spite, and doing holy work, and I have mad respect

This is awesome. Man is doing good ass deeds 24/7 because he’s giving people control.

How dare you not leave a link to his channel, this guy is the savior of the modern world.

These people think a short, painful life lived free from human interaction is better than no life at all.

While morals themselves are rrlative, the concept of morality is universal. Activists think they are doing the right thing for these animals by lobbying for their pure freedom, but in reality they are causing severe unnecessary suffering of a species that simply didn't evolve the right abilities to succeed properly in the wild, since they were originally domesticated and relocated to North America. The only truly wild horses live in Asia, mustangs are actually feral.

That means we haven't had truly wild horses here for close to 10,000 years. Domestic animals have had specific instincts bred out of them.

Their feral populations get too big, they overgraze, then they fight, starve, and die.

Definitely not the moral highground they think it is.

When the BLM does a round up (aka "horse gather") there's usually an area nearby from which the public can watch the process. I worked at a gather recently and, if my memory serves, there was a public viewing area for every trapping site.
