Do not worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow will worry about itself.

The American Dream (Enhanced Edition).

Guys, far from all this. We are facing tragic conditions due to the bitter cold and winter storms. In recent days, thousands of tents have been damaged and several children (including an infant) have died from hypothermia and lack of heating.

We are now dying slowly, and I certainly am looking at children dying of cold, and I am spontaneously shaking from the extreme cold. Stop playing games, stop watching movies. Stop what you're doing now. Focus a little An idea for ten seconds and donate to me and my family. We need your help a lot. Please, my friend, donate.

BP did hire PR firm Ogilvy & Mather in 2004, and coined the term 'carbon footprint' as well as creating the 'carbon footprint calculator'. This gave the impression that climate change was primarily the fault of the individual consumers.

From a New York Times opinion piece on carbon footprint (via the Wayback Machine): 'In 2004, BP hired the public relations firm Ogilvy & Mather to improve its image, in part by conveying the message that consumers of oil and natural gas bear the responsibility for their greenhouse gas emissions, not the producers of the oil and gas they use. The result was BP’s ingenious carbon footprint calculator, which allows individuals to calculate the carbon emissions that result from their activities.'

From a BBC Future article on 'how companies blame you for climate change': 'Similar criticisms have been levelled at terms like "carbon footprints" – which was first coined in a 2005 TV advert from BP. The advert appears to show members of the public being stopped in the street and asked what is "their carbon footprint".'

From an Irish Times on individualising blame: 'In 2004, it unveiled a "carbon footprint calculator", so that individuals could assess how much their daily activities were polluting the planet. The marketing campaign, led by Ogilvy & Mather, fostered the false idea that climate change was the fault of individuals rather than fossil fuel companies.'

I finished the last constellation tonight. All 40 of them are now done! Went through and double checked and every stitch is in place for them and all the beads are in place. Which just leaves the milky way part to do.

Started stitching the Milky Way in. Slowly making progress on it as I am hiding the travelling thread so the back will look nice.

Looks pretty cool and keeps the readability of the other stitches. Very happy with it. Just a thousand or so to do. As they are in a grid roughly every centimetre apart.

Update on the constellation quilt. I have gotten the last Milky Way stitch done now. Which means the quilting part of this project is done. My next step will be to baste the edges down, remove the pattern, trim the quilt square, and lastly attach the binding.

Progress on the constellation quilt has come along quite a lot now. Finished the binding on the quilt over the weekend. I prefer to machine stitch the binding to the front then hand stitch the back side. It gives such a nice finish to the quilt. Took the time to measure it also and it ended up being 72" by 72" (183cm by 183cm).

With that done I could finally start removing the pattern. Which is taking both less time and more time that I thought it would. As it rips really easily so that goes fast, but the tiny corners and removing it under the beads is slow. You can now see the difference in the glow effect with it against the dark front of the quilt instead of the pattern.

Behold the stars of the constellations of the northern sky! I love how this quilt has turned out. It was a lot of fun to work on and the effect is so cool in person. Overall I would estimate it took about 90-100 hours to complete. Give or take 10 hours if you want to count the time I spent custom dying the fabric.

I made sure to get a nice photo of it in daylight. For once I also remembered to get a quilt label on it. The back really shows the difference in readability of the quilting on the ice dyed fabric compared to the solid front. Thank you everyone that has followed this. I am glad you all found joy in it.

Those that are interested, here is the pattern I used by Haptic Lab. I made the large northern hemisphere version, and plan to make the matching southern hemisphere one next year. I also got your back for the less crafty people. Haptic Lab sells finished quilts in this pattern, both as a large quilt and a small one.

Please stop what you're doing right now. Stop everything. If you're eating, put your hands down. If you're drinking, stop what you're buying. If you're playing, stop playing. If you're on a trip or at work, please just listen to me for a moment. Please don't ignore what I'm about to say.

What's happening here today is unbearable. Gaza is not well, even after what you call a ceasefire. We still can't return to our homes, and we pay exorbitant rents every month. We buy food at very high prices; we even have to pay for water. The war hasn't stopped. Every day there's shelling and gunfire. Please, don't let the Zionist media deceive you into thinking Gaza is living in luxury. We are suffering. There's no infrastructure, and there are none of the basic necessities of life.

Israel has spent $900,000 on media outlets to spread the false narrative that Gaza is doing well. This Zionist project, targeting pro-Zionist Western influencers, has been expanded to an estimated $3 million to conceal the truth from you. Please don't let them deceive you. We are not doing well here; we are suffering and need help. We need your donations. Please help us and donate to us.

Please listen to Nader and don't ignore what he's saying. Nader is suffering in a war that has lasted three decades. Please don't ignore him and please donate to him.

please dont assume somebody else will donate! please feel free to help nader, everything counts!

PLEASE HELP A DISABLED LESBIAN WHO IS GETTING KICKED OUT INTO BELOW FREEZING TEMPERATURES

sorry if this is all over the place, my head is still pounding from yesterday but i tried my best to be coherent. this is the worst my situation has been in a long time. my father has a history of being violent and aggressive when he’s drunk, this time he went too far. i try not to get involved with anything involving my family, but last night i heard screaming from the kitchen and it sounded bad. my siblings and i all came to see what the commotion was just in time to see him swing a frying pan at my mother’s head.

my youngest brother disappeared and me and my other brother tried to get in between our parents to stop it because my mother was already bleeding but he fought back against both of us, i don’t know what specifically happened to my brother but his face is all bruised and swollen and i got my head slammed against the wall multiple times. my phone ended up shattered on the ground broken beyond repair and i somehow got glass in my foot that i've since removed

idk if my younger brother called the cops or if the neighbors heard what was going on but they showed up, my father told them everything was fine even though several of us were bleeding and obviously not fine. my mother refused to say anything but my siblings and i spoke up and my father is now in jail. my mother told me that i shouldn’t have said anything, i’m a horrible influence, this is my fault as the oldest, i should’ve known better, and that i have until the new year to find somewhere else to live. i have three weeks to scrounge up enough change to try and survive in below freezing temperatures and i have no fucking clue what i’m going to do.

i’ve reached out to a couple shelters to no avail and i don’t really have IRL friends who can help me. the only thing i can think of is my grandmother or extended family, but they all live 300 miles away and my parents sold my car without my permission so i can’t drive down there myself. i don’t know what to do. i’m so scared and i have nowhere to turn and i have less than a month to figure this out.

i’m going to reach out to my grandmother/family but if all else fails, the cheapest motel in my area is $45/night. i have $13 to my name at the moment. in the next few weeks, i need to secure a place to sleep at night, as well as transportation to get out and away from here, and at least a burner phone from the store, a flip phone will absolutely do and those are like $10-$30 i think. please PLEASE help me monetarily if you can, if not, you can also help just by boosting this post so more people see it. thank you for reading

it’s looking like i’m going to be on my own this winter. my grandmother told me that she would be condemning herself to hell by allowing someone who had been swayed by the devil into her holy house of god. but leaving her grandchild to survive out in the freezing cold because they're gay is surely going to get her into heaven. i tried to reach out to other family members and the only person who responded was my cousin, who is also struggling to stay afloat and can’t help

all of this is because i was trying to defend my mother, just for her to turn around and kick me out. i just don’t know what to do anymore. i don’t have enough money to consistently stay at motels since the cheapest rate around me is $45/night, and that’s going to drain through what i have saved up in only a few days. i know that a branch-specific subscription to the YMCA is $47/month, which will allow me somewhere warm to be during open hours and give me access to showers and drinking water at the very least. i’m scrambling to figure out how i’m going to survive this winter, but i know i’m going to be borderline living out of the YMCA and the library at this point

please PLEASE consider sending a few bucks my way, every little bit helps so much more than words can properly explain. please spread this post around as much as you can, i have a little over a week to get my shit together before i get kicked out into the freezing cold. thank you for reading

i'm not going to be able to reblog this post consistently any more after tonight. all i can do is queue it up and hope for the best. thank you for supporting me in these trying times. please continue to boost this post, consider sending a few dollars my way if you can, and keep me in your thoughts this winter. i love you guys.

update 01/16: the last few weeks have been rough – i’m trying to take it one day at a time. i spend a lot of time at the gym, the library, and local eateries just to stay warm, the midwest winter is not being kind to me. motels are too expensive to stay at consistently so i’ve been sleeping in dumpster enclosures to keep the wind off of me. i don't have enough to afford a room and it’s supposed to snow tonight, if anyone could help me out, it would mean the world to me. thank you to every one who has reached out to me, it genuinely fills me with hope to know that there are still people in my corner. please consider sending a few bucks my way, and please boost this post so it doesn't lose traction again. thank you for reading

Guys if you want queer shit written by queers on our own terms you're going to have to start seeking out weird independent media. I'm sorry that's the only place you can regularly find it idk what to tell you, we can't keep acting like there's nothing if we're not getting blockbusters and triple A titles or whatever it is we're waiting around for. The thing you keep saying you want is already being offered for free by one person making a passion project on the internet and you would both benefit enormously if you interacted with it instead of lamenting that the only options we have for representation are pandering afterthoughts from corporate shit

I say this with so, so much care: Real queer shit written by real queers can and will sometimes make you uncomfortable. That's one of the defining features of weird, independent queer media. And weird independent media more broadly. Art that comes from true individual passion and authenticity has edges and bite to it that mass market corporate products intentionally do not. Has a rawness that can offend.

You are allowed to feel uncomfortable about it. But don't ask for queers to self censor for your comfort.

Queer Slur Heritage Post

You know technology literacy is dying because I saw this meme with 76k likes

F11 the full screen button? You’re scared of the full screen button? F10?? It opens the menu bar???

Computers are so scary what if I accidentally hit F12 in a steam game and it takes a screenshot. What if I press shift + F12 while in word and accidentally save my document 😖

If you had to learn what the F keys on your computer do through me reblogging this post, then I'm glad you did. Computer literacy is not a skill that gets taught anymore, and it is absolutely one that needs to be taught in order to be learned. Don't ever feel bad for not knowing something, but ☝️ don't ever stop learning learning about your environment, the tools you use, and especially the people around you

Never stop learning+ Never stop sharing what you learned
