How does the game fit the theme?
because, well… things definitely can go wrong.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?

Parts of the shader code was taken from a tutorial.

Some card texts were written for another project and reused. Some sentences are ripped of from various Wikipedia or other public articles. Nothing I could credit here in particular.

I liked the game very much, i would just put a tutorial, but overall good game!

I liked everything except that I triggered a nuclear war :(

Great concept and the music just fits perfectly :D It gets a bit repetetive but thats mainly a balancing thing, nice work! :)

Would have been nice to have some feedback on my actions so that I could directly see which percentages change due to my actions.

Cool concept, its fun to play! I like the artstyle too and the effects are really cool. The gameplay can get a bit repetative but its really interesting. Im not sure nuclear power acidifies the oceans though, I may be wrong! Correct me if I am :)

Developer(+1)

Yeeaeeh, it might be the balancing of actions and reactions are not perfect. But that is left over for version 2. :-P

No worries, great game still!

The concept is super interesting and it's fun to play :)

Pretty cool game idea. I missed a bit of player feedback on what effects my actions have on which percentages.

Gameplay loop is nice and short and offers replayability which is nice.

Well done

very cool game idea!!! had a great time in this game

Fun game with a good visual style. Build Diplomacy seems to be a bit unbalanced, and you can just coast on spamming that for a long time. Would be cool if there was something to spice up the game every now and then. But overall a good game.

Most probably caused a nuclear holocaust. Awesome

Submitted(+1)

good game

Submitted(+1)

Could not avoid thermonuclear holocaust, but had a good time.
I'd speed up the year cycle, as after a while it seemed like I was just waiting with nothing to do.
Very nice visuals

A good (...or not) addition to the game would be to get a missile in response of diplomacy, which would be closer to reality sometimes ;)

Submitted(+1)

Very polished and fun. I can't seem to last long but its a pretty quick loop so i tried a few time! Great game. I enjoyed it

I avoided war as long as I could, but everything was unfortunately falling apart so I ended up trying it. Ended up in a global thermonuclear war haha, whoops. Very well made game, nice job!

Cool stuff~! Very "on the nose" interpretation of the theme and good use of minimalist DEFCON visuals. Glad to see a fellow Godot Wildjammer out in the wild. I will say, that the gameplay did get quite repetitive for myself. Wasn't sure if this was the intention but I just ended up spamming the Build Diplomacy card. Honestly, I think I just mashed that guy for maybe like 4-5 minutes up until year 2050.

If I could give a couple notes:

  • I would switch to toggle buttons rather than clicking. Like I click once and that policy is active. Clicking others deactivates. Could have cards that let you select more than one policy at once. Would prevent strain, my mouse finger hurty.
  • Maybe some sort of quick UI indication of what each card does. Like a symbol reflecting one of the societal factors on the cards with a negative or plus symbol.
  • If I'm interpreting the intent of the game correctly, I don't think the game has an ending. But it would be nice to have one just as a lil' treat or incentive for being such a good AI. Could still be sold as a "bad" ending narratively.

Either way, good stuff~!

Yeah, it's a somehow depressive Jam version that is influenced by my current view on the "things" happening on earth. But your notes are helpful. I'll see in which direction it might go after the Jam. :-)

I can see this growing from the jam game, great work!

Nice game, enjoyed it. Very great sound and design choice. Add some more choice variety though. I got mostly a combination of the same 4 cars all the time

Developer

Good advice! I made many more cards, but balancing them was the hardest part. So for the jam I concentrated on make a bug free mechanic. Later after Jam I'll scale the cards variation.

Really cool for a game jam submission! I can see this working extremely well as a much larger game. One of my favorites so far!

Submitted(+1)

not sure what i was doing but the global thermonuclear image at the end was lovely made, great art in there well done

Looks good. Not sure what the goal is. Build diplomacy is the one I keep on using the most for social unrest. Why should I pick go to war?

Developer

THIS is an very excelent question! :-)

Why should anyone pick to go to war? The world shows the oposite...
