I like that when I'm getting it started, it is teaching me to move in circles. (I didn't take the hint at first and ended up going too far.)

damnnn this is fun!! i'm not that great at it, but this game really feels like something that can be mastered with practice. i like the vibe that comes with starting immediately to the game. the controls feel really solid; we need more games that use only the crank — i also like the element of not being completely in control to start, but being able to hone your skills and gain a gut feeling of how to maneuver over time. my current best is a meager 1348!

The controls feels like classic Asteroids, but with constant thrust near the center and helpless chaos outside the ring.  The idea of using moon phase for health display is really nice.  A fun and exciting game.

This is super fun, feels like I'm a stunt pilot constantly doing tricks :D I'm impressed with how you pulled off some great graphics & effects from just simple shapes, and I love the use of moon phases for health. Definitely going to keep playing this one!

Glad to hear it!  Fun fact, the only images in the entire game are the card, icon, and wrapping paper, all used in the system menu. Once you get in game it's all drawn with shapes. Even the font.

Still don't know why I put myself through that haha.

Really incredible feeling controls, and I love the little intro with the circle expanding when spin the crank - extremely fun touch.

If I could ask for one thing... maybe a little health gauge for the moon appearing in the corner of the screen if the moon scrolls off the screen - there's a couple of times I got a little too zealous about chasing an asteroid and flew off into the boonies and had to make a decision as to whether or not it was worth trying to save a run or not.

Developer

Thank you!  If I make an expanded version I'll definitely consider the health gauge.  I figured it wasn't necessary since it's not like you can make any decisions when you're that far out, but I definitely get your point about seeing if it's worth it to keep going!

This might be my favorite entry! It feels great to play and it made me want to play more to get better. Really solid all around.

Developer(+1)

Honored to be your favorite entry!  I wanted to go simple but well polished since I was participating solo, unlike last playjam.  Glad to hear it worked out!

incredible physics and use of the crank. Fighting gravity with the thrust of the rocket is slick and super satisfying once you get the hang of it

Developer

Glad to hear you think so!

Awesome game! seems like there is a really high skill ceiling even with the simple controls. Would love to see this concept expanded on!

Thank you! I've got a lot of game dev on my plate at the moment but once that clears up I have some ideas for expansion.

Super easy to pick up and play, and I really like the upbeat music with the simple art.  I'll be keeping this one for sure!

Developer

Thank you!  I was definitely aiming for a pick up and play arcade game, glad I successfully delivered on that.
