DC is setting up a live-action Young Justice movie, an argument in 8 parts
1. In advance of Kara’s debut in Superman (2025) and the release of Supergirl, DC released a barrage of Supergirl content
- Supergirl vol. 8 began on May 14, 2025
- Superman / Batman Book One: DC Compact Comics Edition Trade Paperback (feat. Post-Crisis origin of Supergirl) released on July 15, 2025
- Supergirl: Universe End - Trade Paperback released on Sept 23, 2025
- DC Finest: Supergirl – Body & Soul Trade Paperback released on Oct 14, 2025
- Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow: DC Compact Comics Edition released on Jan 6, 2026

- DC Finest: Supergirl – Die and Let Live Trade Paperback releases May 26, 2026
- Supergirl: The New 52 Omnibus Vol. 2 Hardcover releases on June 23, 2026
- (There has been a similar barrage of Jason Todd and Damian Wayne and Authority content in advance of Dynamic Duo and The Brave and the Bold and The Authority but I can only include 30 images on a tumblr post so you’ll have to #trustme)
- (lmk if you want me to collect proof of those tho and I’ll do it in another post)
- (I also think they might be planning something with Cassandra Cain but that is for a DIFFERENT POST)
- (maybe they’ll ADD HER to the YJ roster??? that would kick ASS okay anyway)
2. The movie will be based on the comics series Supergirl: The Woman of Tomorrow
3. Superman (2025) set the groundwork Quite Well for a live-action Kon-El
- Movie: The clone who attacked Superman (Ultraman) was called “a poor match for Superman” by Lex Luthor
- Comics: The clone of Kon-El who was doomed to become a Bizzaro was called Match
- Movie: Lex claimed that this clone was “a poor match” specifically because of his lack of intellect
- Comics: Kon’s Kryptonian DNA was stabilized with human DNA - specifically, human DNA from Lex Luthor
- Movie AND Comics: Lex absolutely, 100% believes that he is the smartest person in the world
Who else’s DNA would Lex use to fix the failure of intellect he sees in his Ultraman?
4. Set to release over the course of the next few months:
- Young Justice Omnibus Vol. 2 Hardcover releases Jan 20, 2026
- Reign of the Superboys event starts March 11, 2026
- Teen Titans by Geoff Johns Compendium One Trade Paperback releases Apr 28, 2026
5. The next Superman movie announced is called Man of Tomorrow
- There is a comic book series about Kon titled Superboy: The Man of Tomorrow (see below)
- Comics: Clark isn’t interested in taking responsibly for the clone/test tube baby Lex made, and Kon’s basically left to fend for himself

- Justice League Unlimited vol. 2 #11 Cover F 1:25 Scott Kolins Variant - 9/24/25

- Bart officially going by Impulse again, including the original outfit design
7. The announced The Brave and the Bold movie is set to take place just after Damian arrives as Robin
- Comics: The severity of Damian’s upbringing is established (partially) by his immediate attempts to kill Tim, because he was taught that if there was a position he wanted, he needed to remove whoever it was who currently occupied that role
- So (theoretically) we now have a cast-off Superboy, along with a cast-off Robin
8. There is an untitled Wonder Woman movie set to release after The Brave and the Bold
- Potentially leaving behind another protégé?
In conclusion,
The Core Four have been steadily appearing more and more in ongoing comic runs, and an omnibus and compendium for their team books are both dropping this year. This is reminiscent of the pattern DC has previously established with the other movies they’ve announced recently. They are also all appearing regularly in outfits that would make it easy for theoretical future movie-goers to look back at recent comics and recognize the characters in them.
Superman (2025) has already laid the groundwork for Kon’s introduction into the movie-verse’s continuity.
The indicated timeline for the upcoming The Brave and the Bold movie would put Tim Drake as the Robin being replaced by Damian, whose relationship with Bruce is set to be the main focus of the film.
