having anti role models is a beautiful thing. it's not easy to live up to someone else's behavior but it is easy to lasso yourself into behaving right when you realize you're reminding yourself of the worst person youve ever met in your entire life

op turned reblogs off but this post must live. it must live and spread malignantly .

Being anti-death penalty is literally the easiest stance ever. People just say "but should the state kill THIS type of person?" and you just say "no". Not killing people is so fucking easy actually

Some of yall will be like "but what about serial child rapists". Here's the thing: the government will not be killing the category "serial child rapists". It will be killing the category "people the government has convicted of being serial child rapists". Are you feeling the difference?

Growing up we had a friend from the BBC. He would be in town interviewing the president or whatever. Once he came over and told me he was doing a documentary on how they abolished hanging in England. I asked him for some details and he said basically they got rid of it because they were hanging a lot of innocent people.

People always direct the conversation to the immorality of killing and get peppered with the usual worst case scenarios about Hitler or child murders, but it's also important to remember that this country jails and murders innocent people all the time. You can't take back murder.

I need help covering my tuition! I'm aiming for 600$, which is about half. Anything helps!

cashapp is $cecilgcomix and venmo is @ cecilgcomics if those are more your speed

rent and school is a lot. if you can spare anything, even just a reblog, that'd help so much. I have comics and zines on my ko-fi store too if you're interested in getting something in return.

Help my friend!!!!!!!!!!

here’s the saskatchewan health authority’s most recent statement regarding the incident. there’s a lot of talk but nothing of substance is being said. his family just wants answers and yet they haven’t even been told his time of death. his family also believes that the “imitation firearm” in question is a bright pink and green cigarette holder/lighter, but police refuse to release a photo of it.

according to those who knew him, he was a kind person who always went out of his way to help the less fortunate. he was seeking certification as a social worker and was heavily involved in his community. his family also says that he was against anything that has the potential to cause harm to people.

lastly, here is a quote from his brother, ryan (from this aptn article):

so like is anyone else seeing what's happening on the dilbert website right now

I feel as though I will regret asking but, what absolute nonsense was he on about here?

Scott had prostate cancer, probably for a few years since by the time he publicly announced having it (May 2025) there were signs of the cancer spread to his hip and lower vertebrae.
Rather than treating it immediately with surgery, drugs, or traditional cancer therapy; he took ivermectin and other de-worming medication.
He was begging RFK jr and the P(os)otus to grant him access to an "experimental" cancer treatment in November. After being paralyzed and starting radiation therapy because the cancer had spread into his spine.

The man's life is a prime example of how modern conservatism will rot your brain. Prostate cancer is one of the most survivable cancers in adults (especially men over the age of 60), and he died painfully over the course of years because he believed in grifters over doctors.

I hope Rian Johnson gets to make as many Benoit Blanc movies as there are Agatha Christie adaptations and more. I hope Daniel Craig gets to play the dapper, enigmatic, theater gay detective Benoit Blanc until he physically can't act anymore. And I hope that role far overshadows playing James Bond for years as his artistic legacy.

Johnson is the first writer in a long time to understand that the the serial detective archetype is a trickster spirit who takes power from the violently corrupt, and gives it to a common person who has passed his tests to prove they're good of heart and would use those resources to improve the world.

A video showing the young Iranian Mali Imani singing in the street has garnered millions of views on social media and has become one of the symbols of protest against the Ayatollah regime. In Iran, women are forbidden to sing in public, and violating this ban can lead to arrest and punishment.

The emotional moment, filmed about two years ago, was reposted on her Instagram page and since the outbreak of the protests has gone viral, already accumulating nearly 30 million views.

Mali described the moment and said, "This is one of the best moments of my life." She described how the whistle heard at the end of the video, which stops her singing, almost caused her to have a heart attack - hint of the approach of the morality police or security forces.

Tu esposa dice que relucías,
y dios sabe que
necesitamos la luz.

Tu madre dice que cuidabas
de otres toda tu vida,
que podías perdonar y perdonar.

¡Ay, mamá! ¡Ay, mujer!
Jinete del coche en las calles,
poeta bella. Hay jaulas
para todes nosotres ahora.

Tu eres una perla de collar
demasiado largo.
Lamento los nombres
como rosario de sangre.
Pienso que los lamentarías también.
Pienso que perdonarías
aun a tus asesinos,
si pudieras.

When Ciji Graham visited a cardiologist on Nov. 14, 2023, her heart was pounding at 192 beats per minute, a rate healthy people her age usually reach during the peak of a sprint. She was having another episode of atrial fibrillation, a rapid, irregular heartbeat. The 34-year-old Greensboro, North Carolina, police officer was at risk of a stroke or heart failure.

In the past, doctors had always been able to shock Graham’s heart back into rhythm with a procedure called a cardioversion. But this time, the treatment was just out of reach. After a pregnancy test came back positive, the cardiologist didn’t offer to shock her. Graham texted her friend from the appointment: “Said she can’t cardiovert being pregnant.”

The doctor told Graham to consult three other specialists and her primary care provider before returning in a week, according to medical records. Then she sent Graham home as her heart kept hammering.

Like hundreds of thousands of women each year who enter pregnancy with chronic conditions, Graham was left to navigate care in a country where medical options have significantly narrowed.

Everyone failed this woman, including her boyfriend who drunkenly slept on a couch while her body got cold in another room.

The most distinct feeling I've had since the abortion bans in these states is what fucking cowards the doctors involved are. And I won't stop saying so. They'd rather women die than they risk (not even actually get it, but just risk it) legal trouble. That's cowardice and I don't care about any "they're in a difficult spot" defenses. If they can't do their damn jobs, they should leave the profession.

It's done!! My absolute favorite part of Defunctland's Living Character video and it reminded me of a certain someone >>
