As the world makes it so that everything is faster and easier you forget that many things are not fast and easy. That work is often hard and slow. It makes you feel like you are Wrong for doing things the way they need to be done - not desperately looking for a shortcut, but dedicating your time and effort to something that will likely be underappreciated

I've seen the hockey guys watching HR, and I love it! But can we please stop saying that they're "gonna figure something out about themselves soon"?

If we want more cishet men to be this passionate about gay love stories, maybe we shouldn't take their enjoyment of a gay love story to automatically mean they're gay?

Idk, it just doesn't sit right with me. They're unabashedly loving this show, analyzing it along with us. Speculating that they're not really straight just reinforces the narrative that these stories are only for The Gays™️, instead of for everyone.

Also, it's gross to assume their identities. Let's just knock that off.

one of the most boring lessons I’ve learned is that when a task feels overwhelming, you just have to start doing it. Even if you’re not sure how to do 90% of it, look for one small component that seems close and start there. Sometimes it’s reading one article on the topic, or searching one related term, or literally just googling how to do the task. Do anything other than thinking about it. The process of working on a thing inherently makes it less scary.

me (younger, more naive): why don't these characters just TALK to each other and explain how they feel and COMMUNICATE

me (older, wiser): why are these characters talking in fucking therapyspeak

for those wanting to help venezuelans affected by the bombings through donations, these are currently the best ways to go. will add more links as more is set up

In addition to a donation, it would be really helpful to Venezuela and all of the areas suffering from the actions of US global corporate imperialism if you chose to take one of the following actions.

1. Change your bank from a corporate (Citizens, Citi, Bank of America, etc) to a community bank (or credit union).

2. Starve corporate social media. Delete a Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or Tiktock account. Cambridge analytica was no joke. Bring back the group chat for those sweet family photos and torch the oligarchy's infrastructure with your absence.

3. Pick a streaming service and terminate it.

4. Write an op ed for your local paper. Not the national papers--your city's or your state's local newspaper.

5. Find something of blackrock's that you can avoid paying for.

6. Refuse to shop on Amazon for anything. Delete your account, remove your info, whatever. You can use shop in the meantime--it's Canadian, so there is some degree of separation.

7. Switch your web browser. No Google, no internet explorer, no duck duck go.

We've seen what happens to Americans who protest the unjust actions of our government in public. Demonstration can be a powerful tool--but it is a feverpitch tipping point that our oligarchs have grown accustomed to ignoring until it passes.

The oligarchy is less prepared to be starved of your information, your money, and your attention.

Good luck out there, everyone.

Like we have commodified human connection to a degree where if you go beyond smalltalk you're oversharing and if you talk too deeply about your life you're traumadumping and if you get visibly upset you're manipulative and if you care too much you're codependent and if you want to talk about anything heavy you're expected to go hire a therapist because your friends shouldn't have to deal with that stuff and yet we're all sitting around wondering why so many people are lonely...
