one thing about taylor swift that i can assuredly say puts her head and shoulders above a lot of women in the world, not just pop stars but women in general, is that she’s never said or endorsed any bullshit about how ovulation be making you crazy and ladies are just slaves to our hormones. not that she isn’t crazy but she’s very clear that she’s crazy because of the circumstances of her life being impossible to survive without going crazy, and not some woo woo bullshit about how god designed women to give birth and his design was perfect except how it makes us fucking crazy or whatever, and it is still just so reassuring that the most famous pop star in the world does not ascribe her behavior to this kind of dangerous ideology
so many women these days will be like “i love baking bread bc it puts me in my divine feminine cherry bow bunny era” and she’s like “i like baking bread because baking is fun and i don’t have to leave my fucking stalker-proof minor warlord’s fortress to do it” and yet people insist on saying she’s some kind of crypto-maga tradwife even though she’s probably the most famous Woman With A Job in the world and has never endorsed any of the dangerous rhetoric surrounding things like baking or having kids. but whatever
and like not to belabor the point but i saw a dumbass post on threads this morning (likely place for such a thing to be) basically saying that taylor has always been a right-wing tradwife bc she has talked about her hobbies being like, baking and fiber crafts ever since she was a teenager, and i do just feel like the thing that goes unspoken here is that these are pretty average hobbies for someone who literally cannot go outside. like this is someone who can’t go to a friend’s wedding without attracting swarms of paparazzi drones and who carries quikclot and gauze on her person any time she leaves the house. putting aside the fact that baking sourdough and knitting shitty blankets for your friends’ babies are not inherently right-wing activities no matter how you slice it (if you think the fiber craft community is maga by nature you’ve clearly never experienced the discourse on ravelry) and some people just like making stuff… the list of potential hobbies and pastimes really gets whittled down when you factor in the whole “literally cannot go outside without being mobbed by dangerous crowds of strangers and always needing huge bodyguards with her” thing. like don’t get me wrong based on my understanding of her personality i guarantee that taylor alison swift would be an avid birder if that were something accessible to her but unfortunately. she can’t go outside
