Maybe the real Abyssal Emperor was the friends we made along the way ~✨
Or the friends we betrayed along the way 💀

Hi! If I can ask, was there a Rae x Key AO3 fanfic where she took on the punishment in his stead, claiming it’s a villain’s job to look after her minions? I could have sworn there was and I can’t find it 😂
Dw I got you!!! Luckily I had it saved. It’s Vipers Together by FlingingStars.
I’ve been trying to add the link here and it hasn’t been displaying the fic properly on my drafts answering your ask. But if you click it, it turns out that the work is only available to AO3 users. If you weren’t logged in or signed up, that might be why it was hard to find.
if Giles and Milton created the Storybook of Legends, why would it have been a problem that the original SBOL got stolen?? they would've been able to remake it to be an exact copy of the OG, fulfilling all the same old functions. but they couldn't. one could argue it was because Giles had been locked away at that point, and it was necessary for both of them to be present to create it, but that falls apart when Milton doesn't even seem to understand how the original SBOL works, especially when it comes to destiny-- Apple sees Daring as her true love, when we know that it's actually Darling.
But then, who would lock characters into a magically binding contract to follow a destiny according to something their ancestors did? The fairies. When we think of fairies, we think of essentially magical lawyers-- all powerful because of their magic, rules, loopholes, etc, all characteristics of the SBOL.
Why would fairies do this? Not a single fairy has a bad or tragic ending, not even the evil ones, unlike witches or goblins or even royalty, the most privileged people in ever after and the people who SHOULD stand to gain the most from the destiny system. And as we know about the SBOL, it makes you inherit your parent's magical powers. So the SBOL is a guaranteed way to keep the power within your bloodline. Powerful fairy bloodlines stay powerful, and there's no risk of losing it somewhere down the track.
So why do fairies disappear if they don't follow their destinies? The original fairies that created the SBOL included a clause that would kill any fairy that didn't sign their destiny, because in their view, any fairy that went against fairy elitism was as good as dead. Because why would any reasonable fairy go against the system that props them up even above human royalty?
The Grimm bloodline are some kind of familiars to those original fairies, it's why they almost get to exist outside of the destiny system as a whole and reap its rewards, and are some of the most powerful people in Ever After-- that with the combined might with Baba Yaga, they managed to imprison their world's most powerful villain.
(about a problematic ship) actually i think the power dynamics should get more unbalanced and they should have less respect for each other's autonomy and they should violate more boundaries and commucate worse and fuse together in a tangled mass of tragedy until the lines between them blur and vanish and they are one single unified embodiment of unending worship
Ever after high thought I have been thinking for a long time, but like, shouldn’t rebelling be a way Cedar can turn into a real girl?
The conditions for becoming real in the original tale for Pinocchio is to prove himself “brave, truthful, and unselfish.”
Deciding to venture off the beaten path for the sake of her own guaranteed happily ever after, to help others escape unhappy endings, like Raven, or perhaps the person that would become Lampwick, is maybe the most selfless thing Cedar could possibly do.
It’s also very brave to be a part of a rebellion in a society that is basically just a cult of propaganda and fear.
Not to mention, at least according to everything before Epic Winter’s implications (because I refuse to acknowledge that special) the storybook of legends is probably just a lie. So she’d be helping to reveal a very important truth.
I dunno. It’s just weird to me that the most certain way of becoming real is to just follow the cruel system and let some poor kid become a donkey and die, when Raven has already proved you won’t just disappear if you don’t sign the book.
This is also heavily based on what I remember from A Wonderlandiful World, which gives her a lot more to do, even just in the other Shannon Hale books too. In the web series some of these thoughts probably don’t apply as well outside of her story would do the trick
One thing I’m obsessed with collecting from each of my fandoms is a cookbook. I currently have Fire Emblem , Bridgerton, and DnD ones and they got me thinking of what would be in an EAH one.
There are obvious foods like a pie/tart from Apple, gingerbread cookies from Ginger, and even the birthday cake Raven makes for Apple’s birthday.
Also, foods like scones for Maddie, porridge for Blondie, and pumpkin for Ashlyn that you could add some pizazz to. Maybe lemon blueberry scones (idk seems like a flavour Maddie would really like) . I can’t remember if the 3 bears’ porridge is supposed to be sweet or savoury. If it’s sweet, then something like maple syrup or brown sugar and cinnamon. If it’s savoury then it could be congee with ingredients like mushrooms foraged from the dark forest. As for the pumpkin, hollow it out to turn it into a bowl and make soup.
Then there’s foods that aren’t mentioned in fairytales, but I think would fit.
Tiramisu for Briar because it uses coffee and you know our girl would down insane amounts of caffeine if given the chance. Although I’m sure her friends have tried to get her to cut down on it.
Souvlaki for Cupid since her dad is a Greek god. Plus you could cut some vegetables to resemble her arrowheads and add them to the ends of skewers.
Onigiri for Kitty just because I bet she’d like the surprise involved with finding out what fillings are in each. And also because the triangle shape might remind her of her ears. Ofc some of them should be salmon or tuna because cats.
That’s all I got rn. Call it the Castleteria cookbook or something.
there were also a bunch of foods during the spring unsprung special!! there's holly's tower tea cakes which she submitted for the baking competition, or the pie ginger had to bake to get home-- come to think of it, she has a LOT of foods mentioned in her doll diary, the first 2 suzanne selfors books. there was also the bake sale ep where she and maddie accidentally made living gingerbread men. also, maddie has those shrinking potions in her hat. idk if you can put like a mocktail as a recipe in a cook book but that's also an option. OH AND LITTLE RED PICNIC!!! for more savoury food, since cerise goes on picnics with her family a lot. i remember her thronecoming gift was a basket that had an entire roast chicken??? lmao. in next top villain, duchess also mentions salads being her favourite food, being a swan
Idk how to even write recipes and I’m a mediocre cook at best but damn reading all this makes me wanna experiment
hope one day fe fandom will drop the weird hater attitude abt the fchrobin support chain and just accept it as silly mutual awkwardness between two dorky 19 year olds as a goofy break from how insanely angsty the two get later during awakening
The progression from shit we accidentally saw each other naked to fuck my wife is the anti Christ and she murdered me in another timeline will never not be entertaining

best m/f dynamic is a flamboyant bisexual show-off desperately in love with an extremely practical girl who’s difficult to impress 🤩

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
One of my favorite things to do while reading any book is searching for the symbolic meaning behind whatever I think can have some. Most of the time it's about flowers and names and today I decided to look into the second one. And I think what I found is quite interesting so here you have meaning of some character names
Disclaimer: I didn't include any names that came from objects (like Key) because their meaning is pretty obvious. Also it would require diving into more etymology and language history study and I’m not a scholar in either of these
Starting of with the main cast:
Some other characters:
- ancestral wisdom and continuity of life in Celtic legends
- Hecate in Greek mythology
Bonus
Family names:
Valerius - Roman family name that was derived from Latin valeo "to be strong". Valerius' family belonged to the patricians, a group of ruling class families in ancient Rome.
Nemeth - Russian variation of Hungarian surname Németh. It came from német “German” and derives from néma “does not speak, mute”.
Domitia - Femmine version of Roman family name Domitius. It probably derives from Latin domitus meaning "having been tamed".
As I said at the beginning I’m not a scholar, nor any other kind of expert in matter of language, so if you find something wrong feel free to comment and correct me on that
i love the idea that most people who have destinies that mention their parents actually have two roles at different points in their life. for example, for apples story to truly take effect, her mother has to die, and then when the time comes apple has to die to set the stage for her own child. cedar will play pinocchio when she’s young and once her story is over and she’s turned into a human, she’ll grow up, carve her own children and take on the role of gepetto. holly has to spend her life alone in a tower w a madwoman and then when she finally escapes, has to condemn her child to living the same fate after her. ashlynn doesn’t just have to live through the abuse of her stepfamily while she’s cinderella, but once she’s finally able to grasp her happily ever after and escape her torment, she has to die so the next cinderella can happen. it’s a never ending cycle. happily ever after will never truly exist. you never truly escape destiny.
Happily ever after?
More like generational trauma ever after
An uneeded opinion on the Raven Queen and Apple White swapped theory:
!!!SPOILERS FOR EVER AFTER HIGH!!!!
Unneeded opinion??? DIVA YOU’RE DOING THIS FANDOM A GREAT SERVICE
There’s a solid chunk of people who’d hate to hear it but if the show, whose entire premise is emphasizing that destiny is a matter of choice and morality isn’t black and white, suddenly went “nah ya’ll were switched at birth. Every decision you’ve ever made was determined by your parentage and a biological predisposition to good or evil.”, it would destroy sooooo much.
Not to mention the fact that Snow isn’t even as good as most would think.
Like yeah she isn’t full on evil and committing war crimes, but in Dragon Games we get to see how vain and controlling she can be. She monitors her daughter’s popularity and even throws money at the school to solve the perceived PR problem. It’s like her daughter is a business venture. When Apple hesitates on the call with her, Snow questions if she’s committed to “OUR happy ending”. She’s more worried about her legacy than her daughter’s individual happiness.
No wonder Apple gets so caught up in the fact that Evil Queen would walk on glass to be with Raven.
And furthermore, even the Evil Queen’s motivations aren’t entirely black or white either. In the books and the letter included with Raven’s SDCC doll, we get to see how part of her mothers thirst for power came from wanting to protect her daughter from suffering the same blatant scorn and isolation she did with her destiny. In theory she wanted better for Raven, but obviously threatening people with war doesn’t inspire genuine love and loyalty.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Both mothers paved a piece of said road and that’s what makes them and their relationships with their daughters so fascinating.
Apple and Raven don’t need to be switched at birth to build their characters. They’ve already got generational trauma to thank for that.

How ironic would it be if Rae in the midst of her pursuit of the flower of life and death started coughing up other flowers or even ones that resembled it???
And ofc she has no idea why because she doesn’t remember that happening in the original story!
But what’s this? It happens when she thinks of Key! And it goes from a petal when she first sees him rescue Lia to full on blooms when she reminds herself that he’s a character who will forget her and move on to the damsel like he was written to!
And because she’s already on a mission that’ll determine whether or not she lives irl, she tries to hide it for as long as possible. Maybe it would earn her more sympathy in court or maybe scorn. Would they consider giving her access to the greenhouse for this or would they wait to toss her in the ravine?
Either way, one by one the others find out and they tell her about another curse left by the lost gods. One that hasn’t been seen in ages. One that grows flowers in lungs when someone experiences unrequited love. One that will kill the person unless that love is returned.
Ofc everyone but the cobra thinks Rahela misses Octavian. But Eric knows what’s up. He’s seen the way Rae is with Key, even when Rae herself is blind to it.
And unfortunately for her, she doesn’t fully realize it herself till Key dies.
But somehow she survives to see the flower of life and death bloom. All while still coughing up her own flowers as she waits to confront the emperor!
THE EMPEROR WHO TURNS OUT TO BE THE MAN THAT ALL HER BLOODY FLOWERS WERe FOR
THE SAME MAN WHO’S BLOOD WAS ON HER HANDS
WHO TELLS HER
I LOVE YOU AS A KNIFE LOVES A THROAT
So yeah… I’ll just leave this here and start a new fic brb
