Came for the art, stayed for the politics

@jayeltontoro

mostly reblogs, pictures my own unless they are someone else's - but then I'll say so

I was tagged by @dvoeverie-stitches and @chronichlesofnillory - thank you, - it's been a while since I had time to myself (house guests & extended stays a causa the snows).

What is the origin of your blog name?

It's an amalgam that just happened. After being off social media completely for years (had a stalker) I finally started a new Tumblr. Sooo... J&L 2nd and 3rd initials -,at school if there was more than one girl with the same name then we were separated out by including initials. 'Tonto' was my brother's nickname for me when he wanted to include me in his shenanigans (as blame deflection mainly I think - but I loved him for it nonetheless) the to'toro' is from a Ghibli film my kids loved growing up.

What's your "I will always order this" food?

Softshell crab ideally in a small eatery in SE Asia. Can't get it in this part of the world, but it lives in my memory.

What's your overused emoji?

☺️, Though I wouldn't say overused really because in real I do smile a lot apparently.

What's your current comfort show/movie/book?

This has been a family time, with a lot of caring responsibilities so I've just been 2nd handing Stranger Things

Song you've had on repeat this week?

Two actually - Swing Out Sister's version of 'Am I the same girl' and Kate Bush's 'King of the Mountain'

What smell instantly makes you happy?

Coffee.

What's something you loved as a kid that you secretly love now?

The film of the Angela Carter's The company of wolves'...

What's your phone wallpaper right now?

What's an oddly specific thing that brings you joy?

Walking out at night and seeing the stars wheeling overhead, watching the wheel of the year turn.

Are you a morning person, night owl, or something else entirely?

Morning -though sometimes that seems to mean 'any time after midnight'.

Lastly, if you work, what is your work profession? And do you like it?

Mmmmhhh.. honestly this one caught me out.. I have a job..technical documentation ..but in answering I realise my craft is my real work/ calling; my job just subsidises it for the moment.
