Alex Lightspeed Deadfunk is an outrageous musical journey of jamming synths and outrageous saxophone/ guitar. I can't believe how much this pumps and captures the vibe of the excitement of the '80s! I absolutely love it! It's a hard one, but I think the particular track that stood out was the title track DeadFunk. Favorite track: DeadFunk.

DEADFUNK - THE STORY
It all began with a frequency.

Decades after the cruise ship Mythic vanished without a trace, amateur radio operators started picking up strange transmissions on forgotten wavelengths: distant echoes of funky basslines, fragments of live concerts, voices warped by time and static. At first, it was dismissed as interference. But as the signals grew clearer, a story began to emerge.

DeadFunk is a myth transmitted across decades, wrapped in rhythm, and carried by the sea.
Listen closely. You might just hear the Mythic calling from beyond the waves.

This is the sound of that story, the legend of DeadFunk.

To bring this supernatural, groove-laden journey to life, I had the absolute privilege of collaborating with Manu Carré (Modders), a brilliant saxophonist, composer, and professor at the Conservatory of Menton, France, right on the sun-drenched Côte d’Azur.
After a few concerts together, I knew I wanted him to be the soul of this record. While “DeadFunk” is firmly rooted in synthwave, I envisioned it with a warm, organic twist, a blend of funk, disco, and that irreplaceable human touch. Manu’s saxophone became the keystone to that sound, elevating each track with elegance and fire. When he agreed to join the project, it felt like the final piece of the puzzle falling into place.

All tracks are composed, produced, mixed and mastered by Frédéric Faupin at Dafuzz studio.
