i love it SO much!!! i love the tone! i love the language! i love the beth characterisation! i love the lowkey hilarious asides! i love (hate?) how fucking annoying both of them are! i love how effective it is as a short story! i love how effective it is as a ~horror story! i love the angst! i love the beth n ruby stuff!

(i am remembering now how much i hate like blurb-reccing fics bc im terrible at it adfgffg BUT) this is the only fic i managed to write a rec for on https://goodgirlsficrecs.tumblr.com/, THAT’s how much i love it!!!

the s2 finale broke me, and i was SO hungry for fic to ~fix that, and idk, this made me feel both seen & seeing and it’s my FAVOURITE ~resolution (i mean, it’s probs light on genuine resolution, but i think that’s part of WHY), & the characterisation is f l a w l e s s  to me, & as someone who loves canon-compliant, plot-lite, angsty, short fics, it just hits P E R F E C T & it feels like there’s this ideal confluence of form and content & it’s just the BEST ok!!!!!

Hey anon, I think that could be better underwater by @phloxmagpie, a college au with swimmer rio where they live in the same dorm/building, or chlorine by @inyoursheets, ~lifeguards au ft hotel shenanigans.

this canon-divergent brio fic is d e l i g h t f u l !!! it’s set in a world where beth n rio (crime) split up prior to 213, which thus didnt happen, & then reconnect via JAZZ CLUB SHENANIGANS!!!! it’s SO lovely getting to linger with a softer version of them where they’re not so messily entangled and are able to achieve something closer to equal footing <3 and I love that we get a mix of both beth & rio’s povs!!!

also HI OMG THIS SHOW WAS CONSTANTLY CRYING OUT FOR A MUSICAL EPISODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so i feel VERY fed by this, haha. 

There are SO many cute, comedic moments (shout out to beth getting tangled up in her coat! who among us etc etc) AND it taught me the word ‘proxemics’ so it’s also educational!!!!!
