my tumblr mutuals will take characters from media that is not very good & construct such rich & intricate inner worlds for them in their posts that i will go wow that sounds so compelling let me go check this out….& then the canon character will be like. relatively boring with very little interiority. but that’s okay because sometimes the real character is the one my tumblr mutuals hallucinated along the way….

Okay so I need to talk about wtf happened while I was drawing Cassidy (and why he doesn't even have his hat)
I was about 80% done with Cole when ibis paint crashed, "restored" my file, deleted every folder, turned on every layer, mixed up half of them and then had the audacity to be like "Restored 💜" as if it didn't just fucked me over
Anyway, by the time I reassembled his gun, I simply did not have it in me to also recover the hat—so no hat Cass for my bday cake
This resulted in me rushing the drawing of Sanjay since I needed to put in the order for aforementioned cake-like-yesterday
Ignore those mistakes—it's for my birthday after all

In my fanfiction, Heroes Are Dead, I had a concept for a character I hadn’t fully developed—now called Mira. She’s a technician/engineer at Vishkar, someone who repairs damaged gauntlets and prosthetics. She was supposed to have a scene with Cole where he damages his prosthetic and is sent to her by Sanjay for repairs, even though his prosthetic is older and incompatible with Vishkar technology (somthing which Mira immediately points out)
The two were intended to engage in a conversation about Sanjay, and specifically how strange his dynamic with Cole is. I wanted to show that Cole really didn’t know what he was getting into with these bounties for Vishkar—he’s not naive—he knows the company is shady, but in that point in his life, he’s just a bounty hunter, trying to pay for his next meal
Cole had no idea who Sanjay is, much less the power and the bridges this man had burnt down. Mira was meant to expose the absurdity and danger of his position, and subtly point out how much power Sanjay holds and how his interest in Cole is disturbing
