Keto Cheez Its
With just a handful of ingredients, you can have homemade Keto Cheez-Its in about 30 minutes. These easy baked cheese crackers are a great alternative to store-bought cheese crackers when eating low carb. My whole family loves these, and I love that they are made with wholesome ingredients and contain only 2.5 net carbs per serving.

Whenever I take my kids to the store, their eyes bulge at the sight of the prepackaged lunch packs. You know the ones. They have crackers, little slices of meat and cheese, and candy or cookies. I’ll be honest and admit I have purchased them once or twice as a special treat, but they are expensive and lacking in nutrition. You get 4 or 5 ounces for $1.50. At $6 a pound, you can buy much, much healthier and tastier food.
I made this keto cracker recipe a couple years ago after one of those shopping trips. I put the keto cheez its crackers in one side of a small snack container and cheese and meat in the other. It looked just like one of the store-bought lunches.
But when I first shared this recipe, I had it grouped together with my Cheese Crisps and I thought these really deserved their own post. They are delicious and taste just like Cheez-Its. But they are keto, Trim Healthy Mama, and gluten free.

Ingredients
- Almond Flour – Almond flour works well in crackers because it has a mild flavor.
- Coconut Flour – I like to combine coconut flour with almond flour because the dryness of the coconut flour balances the oiliness of the almond flour.
- Ground Golden Flax – This is optional. If you prefer not to use flaxseed, you can replace it with additional almond flour.
- Salted Butter – Butter works well as a binder in crackers.
- Cream Cheese – I like to use cream cheese as well as butter for the best texture and flavor.
- Minced Garlic – This is optional, but adds a nice flavor.
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese – Use sharp cheddar cheese for the cheesiest flavor.

How to Make Keto Cheez Its
Step One: Combine the ingredients and mix until smooth.
Step Two: Roll out on parchment paper on a baking sheet until 1/4 inch thick.
Step Three: Cut into small squares. Separate the squares so there is at least 1/2 inch between them.
Step Four: Bake the low carb crackers in the oven until golden brown.

Variations
- Seasoning – You can add garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, or herbs like rosemary or thyme.
- Cheese – Use another flavor of cheese such as white cheddar cheese, pepper Jack, Monterey Jack, or Asiago.
- Shapes – You can make these keto cheez itz into any shape you choose. Here are the cheese crisps that use the same dough! You can make a double batch and make both. The cheese crisps are just the dough pressed through a cookie press.

Keto Cheez Itz Recipe
Ingredients
- 7 tbsp butter softened
- 3 oz cream cheese softened
- 1/3 cup coconut flour
- 1/3 cup almond flour
- 1/3 cup golden flax meal (or additional almond flour)
- 1/2 tsp dried minced garlic optional
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix all ingredients with a wooden spoon in a medium bowl. It should come together easily if the butter and cream were at room temperature. I kneaded it with my hands for a few minutes to make sure it was mixed thoroughly.
- Roll out the dough between two pieces of parchment paper until it is about 1/4 inch thick. Remove the top piece. Cut with a pizza cutter into squares. If desired brush with extra melted butter and sprinkle with a tiny bit of garlic powder.
- Bake for 15-20 min out until golden brown.

I am so sorry to bother you, but…. I dislike everything about coconut, could I please use something else in its place..
Thank you so much for your reply, and Thank you for sharing
all your wonderful recipes…
Questions are not a bother! All almond flour should work. Enjoy 🙂
When making cheese crackers may I use third less fat cream cheese? If I don’t have flax meal do I add 1/3 cup more almond flour?
Thank you
Yes and yes. Hope you enjoy them!
How do I store them. They smell wonderful baking and taste great. Do you think I could add more cheese?
I keep them in an airtight container in the fridge and they last weeks. You could add some shredded cheese on top. I’m not sure if adding extra cheese to the dough would throw off the ratios.
Hi again. Just wondering, if it makes 8 servings, approximately how many crackers per serving. I understand the corners are shorter, etc. That’s why I’m saying approximately. Thanks again.
This will vary greatly depending on how you cut them. Just count the number you get and divide by 8. If you cut them exactly how big I did it would be 7 crackers.
hi, this recipe looks really good. Ive tried flax seed crackers and they turned out good, but my question is do i have to use the dried garlic? its not that i dont like the taste, just dont know if I will be able to find it, or having to buy a big one for so little. Will any other substitutions work. Thanks.
You can omit the garlic if you want.
Do you think THM baking blend work in this recipe?
Yes, I think it would work. Use a bit less.
I am allergic to nuts. Do you think if I increase coconut flour and golden flax meal to equal the amount of almond flour they will still turn out alright? With the extra coconut flour would I need to increase butter for moisture? Thanks.
Sunflower seed flour is a great 1:1 sub for almond flour. But if you want to try the idea mentioned you might need extra butter.
I love that we have someone to talk to & actually get answers to questions! I used to be on another keto site & when I posted a question I got a message that they could not respond to anyone, we had to go to this other address to talk to someone – aggravating!
Thanks for the. Cheese Crackers plus Cheese Crisps. I had them copied down, and could not find them. Sooo! good. Thanks again for all the hints.
Can I use all almond flour if I don’t have coconut flour?
I have not tested these with all almond flour but I think it would work. Use a little more.
I cannot have dairy, so what do I use for the cream cheese??
Dying to try!
Katharine
I don’t think it will work to make this recipe dairy free. Sorry.
These crunchy little crackers are amazing!
Loved this, homemade crackers are the best!
What is the serving size? I could not find it.
1/8th of the recipe. Which for me was 8 crackers. Just divide the amount you end up with by 8. Enjoy!
