I wonder if they’re making a big deal of mentioning how the officer that shot a woman in the face 3 times for no reason “was dragged from a car and injured by a suspect last year” so that he can plead big baby wah wah PTSD kicked in and he had no choice but to shoot an innocent woman in the face 3 times. Because it is oh so scary to be an ICE agent and it gives them oh so much trauma and everybody is oh so mean.
The most violent I've ever been after my PTSD "kicked in" was swinging my cane at my brother before realizing that is was just him and purposefully missing. Don't let them use that as an excuse.
Absolutely, if you struggle with hypervigilance, making sure you are not handling guns and are not a member of law enforcement is entirely your responsibility.
Istg thd whole "oh ptsd makes u dangerous" bull drives me up the fucking wall cos it's either used to villanise disabled people or excuse evil people and can people pls just leave traumatised people the fuck alone it's not our fault a fascist turned out to be violent
It’s important to note that I also have PTSD. PTSD is much more common among survivors of abuse than soldiers or cops. When your trauma doesn’t involve killing people, they tell you to stop being so sensitive, to grow up and get rid of your victim mentality. When you develop PTSD from slaughtering innocent civilians or tearing apart families, they bend over backwards to defend you when you continue that pattern of violence. Ableism is used as a tool to scrutinize victims and excuse offenders.
*doctor voice* we just got the test results back from your bloodwork and it’s weird. yeah. your blood is real freaking weird. what’s causing it? no clue. should you be worried about it? not really sure. anyway, just wanted to call and tell you your blood is all kinds of fucked up.
Rest in Peace to Renee Good. ICE shooting an innocent 37 year old mother attempting to protect her neighbors is not an accident or an act of self defense, it is an act of terror designed to dissuade other people from stepping in, documenting ICE violence and reminding immigrants of their rights. Her son is now an orphan and the president of the United States is calling her a ‘professional agitator’ on social media.
The head of ICE is calling her a violent terrorist and claimed her attempt to back her car away was actually an effort to murder the ICE officers present.
There’s a reason that the Right have all rallied so quickly behind this narrative: it’s happened before, with ICE’s approval.
Renee is the ninth person to have been shot by ICE since last September; and in all of those shootings the victim was in a vehicle and the agents claimed that the vehicle was “a threat”/trying to “run them down.” One other shooting, that of Silverio Villegas Gonzalez, was also lethal.
This is pretty clearly a sanctioned tactic being used by ICE repeatedly with an eye towards using the vehicle-as-weapon excuse later.
if they're shooting blonde haired blue eyed white ladies in their cars in broad daylight what do you think they're doing to the people they have in cages?
can non natives stop acting surprised and performatively jokey "uhh what lol!" about ice going after native americans. theyve been doing this for years and it ramped up last year and i had to hear all the stupid "uhhhh where will u deport them to 😜 silly republicans!" comments as if its not always been about detaining torturing murdering using as slave labor scattering communities through fear and intimidation etc. be an adult and act with maturity please. its not quirky or confusing its directly in line with americas racism and white supremacy to make sure native americans are eradicated
I think it's notable also particularly in the Minneapolis context that of the 6 or so (US) Native people I have heard of being detained in the past few days there, at least half were unhoused. This context is important esp given the recent history (I can't remember the year but starting sometime when I lived there from 2016-2020) of police violently dismantling encampments of Native unhoused people. the Native population in Minneapolis is like 5% but Native people make up almost half the unsheltered homeless population, iirc. the ICE harassment of tribal citizens is not of course limited to unhoused Natives but I think it's important to see the connections of how these developments are connected to previous and ongoing violence against unhoused people
