Good morning, don’t trust the government
I know for a fact that in the Heated Rivalry universe there is a girl who, at 12 years old, started a Hollanov Tumblr blog during Shane and Ilya’s rookie year and ran with that shit. She was out there writing dissertations on every interaction, giffing every clip, posting obscene RPF, and editing her damn heart out with only the smallest amount of content.
Then, after more than a decade, those two idiots get outed in the most ridiculous way, and she is feral with vindication and pride. And I am just so happy for her.
SPIRITED AWAY 2001 | dir. Hayao Miyazaki
this one is a really big ask, but if we get any part of it or even a reference to “my dinner with Hayden” I might cry tears of joy. imo that little short story really really helps Shane’s character and his motivations in the long game
like this is an extremely valid crash out and I need to see Hudson do it justice
No, seriously, do NOT.
Feeling dirty and grimy for extended periods of time is extremely draining on the mental well-being of humans. Psychological studies prove it is detrimental to our self-esteem and contentment. And no wonder; we are animals--homo sapiens, a kind of ape--that instinctively places high importance on personal grooming. Like monkeys and cats and birds in a zoo, one of the best ways to make us feel sad ... is to make us feel gross to ourselves.
So here's an easy saying from my therapist/zookeeper:
"If you feel like you hate the world, eat something.
If you feel like the world hates you, get some sleep.
If you feel like you hate yourself, take a shower.
You will probably feel much better."
Do all three at once to become the perfect life form
Whoa! Is this where @redgoldsparks ‘ comic comes from?
Yes this is the source of the text!
"very guilty and problematic client" holy copaganda batman
let’s start parsing who does and doesn’t deserve representation and assign moral weight to agreeing to protect their rights I don’t see how this could possibly go wrong
The purpose of a defence attorney is to make sure the police have done their job. The prosecution says "they did the thing" and the defence says "well can you prove it?" and if they can't, the defendant goes free because the prosecution fucked up.
All they have to do is their job. As long as they don't fuck up doing ther job, the guilty will go to prison. The reason the guilty go free so often is because the police are constantly fucking up and not doing their damn job.
It's very telling that these people can't really conceive of a situation where they might be wrongfully arrested for something and labeled "very problematic and guilty" and may, in fact, need exactly the kind of legal representation that they're side-eyeing. Even in the realm of thought experiments there are the categorically ""problematic"" and they can't even imagine a world where they could ever be lumped in with them, even wrongfully, because surely people would OBVIOUSLY know they're innocent, surely this only happens to Others
#even if the client is totally guilty#the defense attorney's job is still to make sure they're treated fairly#even guilty people should not be abused by the system because no one wanted to speak up for them#once again as soon as we decide some people don't deserve rights#we're on a fast track to no one has rights
unavoidable that you will be the villain in someone else's story. You will be painted in an unfavorable light. You will be the irredeemable one. and all of this will happen despite how nice you might usually be or how kind or how respectful or how warm. and you will just have to move on.
but have you ever even heard of the fynbos biome ?!!?!?!?!
a biome so unique in south africa that it's earned an entirely new biome classification for itself. so many plants are endemic to this area, and ofc it's under threat of extinction.
It's a wonderful place! I had the privilege of visiting the fynbos last year and it was as amazing as these photos show and more!
