Reblogging because today, 4/9/2023, a Trump-appointed Texas judge suspended the FDA approval of mifepristone, the abortion pill that has been approved for 23 years. If the appeal fails, it will be illegal in ALL 50 STATES in one week.

Reblogging because on 4/13/2023 Ron DeSantis signed a 6-week abortion ban in Florida.

"Victims of rape, incest and human trafficking could obtain an abortion up to 15 weeks into a pregnancy, under the legislation, if the woman provides a restraining order, police report, medical record or other evidence.

The bill would also ban doctors from prescribing an abortion via telehealth and require medication for abortion be dispensed by a physician, not by mail."

Reblogging because it is November 6, 2024 and Trump was elected again and Republicans will control the House and Senate. Need I say more?

Despite Florida's majority voting in favor of abolishing Ron Desantis's abortion ban, it failed to meet the 60% threshold requirement to pass.

On the tonal difference between Interview with the Vampire and The Vampire Lestat: "I don't think you can take the vision in Interview with the Vampire any further than I did in that book. At least, I can't take it any further. There was nothing to do but grow beyond that because it's a book about disappointment, disillusionment, and bitterness. Every single question that comes up has a disappointing answer. Everything Louis looks for, everywhere he goes, doors close, or darkness is revealed to be at the core, or death results, or things burn down, or they crumble. In The Vampire Lestat I deliberately set out to do the exact opposite [...] what if each thing leads to more doors opening and more questions? That's why that book was comic for me, because it celebrated procreation, and had a great deal of humor and it was about possibility and renewal. Resurrection and renewal. "[...]In other words, you could say, here's this woman and basically these experiences should have destroyed her. Her mother's death from alcoholism when she was still a young girl should have done her in. Marrying young, having difficulties, should have done her in. Her child's death should have so crippled her that she wouldn't have been able to go on. She should have drunk herself to death. Everything that happened her should have done her in, or could have. Now, if she's going to go on, there has to be some radical transformation." -- Conversations With Anne Rice, by Michael Riley

Damn, I love this. Perfectly explains why TVL means so much to so many people.

its gives me soooo much joy when people bitch about the vampire lestat season, because that just tells me they'll be upset forever because this series is about lestat and dumb lestat haters deserve to be upset. its such a good feeling.

Isn't it? I just have to laugh because what did they think the first two seasons were about? It was all about Lestat, Louis' relationship from beginning to "end" with Lestat. He didn't talk about life before Lestat and he did not care to talk about the decades with Armand afterwards, lmaooooo. Armand himself couldn't help but tell a little tale about Lestat because he's so obsessed with him. It's always been about Lestat. So they can keep crying or better yet, stop watching and find a new interest.

big big boooos to the pitt writers and actors to box mel as the peppy bubbly cute sister who needs an adult and not an adult who can need a relationship. booooooo.

We'll see. Even if they were to go romantic, I wouldn't expect it until S3 or S4 at the earliest. This is only their second day together. It's just odd that what they're saying in interviews (Taylor's not too terrible about it) is not what's being put in the show. Patrick is doing this weird downplaying of Mel and Langdon's relationship. Like buddy, that's one of you character's most significant connections. Without Mel, no one would give a fuck about Langdon. So, idk what THAT is about but he needs to get a grip. Platonic doesn't bother me, it's them describing it as a big brother situation. They're infantalizing Mel. The word "friend" still exists and can be used instead. She's a grown ass adult, a doctor, and a caretaker. We've seen how Langdon interacts with the younger residents and med students and he treats them as siblings. He treats Mel like an equal.

i do wonder if these writers will have the guts to give trinity a reality check. its great that she noticed langdon's drug abuse! cheers! he got suspended! but she was also practicing unsupervised medicine as an intern! and was encouraged by her now girlfriend. i doubt she's getting mcu oversight there.

so i do wonder if the writers have the guts to make her eat some humble pie and reassess her cockiness, or is it all pow wow girl power only.

I really hope they do this season. It needs to happen after what S1 showed us with her character. She's good at sussing out a person's troubled history but when it comes to actual medical procedures, she fumbled a lot and guessed instead of admitting she doesn't know something. She just does whatever she wants. I'm thinking her believing this kid is being abused by her father will be what bursts her bubble. She's so sure of it while everyone else around her is telling her she doesn't know anything yet. She's only thinking of her own past.
