Some advertising, because calendar sale season starts again and so this is a little interlude to promote my calendars. And of course there are lots of birds. The baby crow calendar is is currently only available in the US. The other ones are available in Europe.

Some pictures from the calendars are also available as Puzzles as canvas prints.

Some more goldcrest pricture. I especially love the pictures in which you can see all the details of their wings. I mean, look at this.

After snow and ice it started to thaw and with the change in temperature came the fog.

You might think this is somewhere in the countryside, but it is actually in the middle of the city. The ice on the water is still there, just covered in water, reflecting the trees of the park, while the fog disguises all houses behind the park.

More fluffed up winter birds - a great tit, a blackbird and a robin.

Somebody is not happy with the winter weather.

Since tomorrow the temperatures will be less frosty, here have some truly frosty crows. You can see that they are very well isolated as the frosty rime on there feathers doesn’t melt.

Two more kingfisher pictures from today, because in this light you can really see how beautiful their plumage is.

On a very cold day the kingfisher fluffs up to keep warm in-between diving into the cold water to catch fish.

Somebody put hazelnuts into the bird feeder house. The squirrel was quite happy about those.

So far I have only posted the video of the dipper. Now here are some more pictures. Dippers are really beautiful birds. And they are really fascinating to observe. They not only dip, but start dipping faster before they dive in the water. Now the river, where I watched this one, was rather shallow, so the dipper didn’t need to dive down deep. They search for food in the water, here mostly for caddisflies larvae. Once they found one, they shake it so long until the casing flies off, so that they can eat the larvae.
