Claudette Colvin has died, age 86. At age 15, she refused to give up her seat on a Montgomery city school in 1955, nine months before the famous incident with Rosa Parks. She was forcibly removed from the bus and arrested. She was one of four plaintiffs in Browder v Gayle (1956) in which the Supreme Court upheld a lower courtβs rilling that segregation on public transport was unconstitutional.
