hello, person who uses perfume/cologne/aftershave/essential oils/whatever else you smell like,
PLEASE APPLY YOUR SCENTS WITH CONSIDERATION FOR OTHERS. Fragrances should only be smelled by people who stand very close to you, and even then it should be a light smell. If you think you may be wearing too much, ask a friend or a coworker. Remember that fragrance should be applied to pulse points (neck, inner wrist, inner elbow) and not to the body or clothes. (this one is for your benefit actually, because the fragrance will oxidize and sour on clothes, plus alcohol-based sprays fade dyes!)
There are many, MANY conditions, illnesses, and disorders that might cause a person to be sensitive to your fragrance. The reaction might be mild and brief, or it might be severe and last for days or even weeks. These people cannot predict your presence or avoid contact with you in public spaces like stores, libraries, restaurants, etc. It is YOUR responsibility to protect these people and make sure you aren’t abusing your fragrances.
This is an (incomplete) list of things that might cause fragrance sensitivity in a person:

PS: the American Medical Associate JUST recently recognized fragrance sensitivities with a fragrance regulation policy that “…encourages health care facilities, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations to adopt and promote fragrance-free policies that recommend individuals avoid or limit use of fragrances and support the use of fragrance-free products when feasible…” (emphasis original)
a lot of you really need to internalize that acting avoidant isn’t cute at all and that it will cost you experiences and life outcomes if you don’t change course
