Ryan Kwanten and Alexander Skarsgård in True Blood (2008-2014)

…in your dreams, Jason Stackhouse.
This whole Hep V and vampires being infected bit is a little heavy handed as a metaphor to gays and HIV/AIDS. Clumsy.
“This show has an absolute blank check from its network and its audience when it comes to gay content, and what we get in return is pandering soft-core with zero story weight whatsoever?
This is, sadly, par for the course for True Blood, a show that’s constantly praised as being one of TV’s gayest, but what do we get? We get winking dream sequences, we get sad gay crushes, we get quickly-forgotten lesbian dalliances.”
And even those winking dream sequences or sad gay crushes aren’t treated equally, es evidenced by any one of Sookie’s never-ending sex scenes. In other words, straight sex can be explicit but gay sex cannot. Gay sex is inferior. Gay anything is inferior. What a lovely lesson to be reinforcing to those who already deem gay inferior… or worse, to those who question their own sexuality and get the wrong answer from watching True Blood.
It’s not even over yet and I already know Tumblr is going to blow up with this Jason and Eric sex scene.
Over a millennia transpired and Godric never felt compelled to release Eric from their bond as maker/progeny.
Sigh.
I wish we would have gotten more of their story.
