I actually had to read No Exit after playing the game because I felt like I was missing some grander context. And having now read it, I can definitely say that if my best friend whom i was in love with made me play Estelle while she played Inès from Jean-Paul Sartre's No Exit i would also commit crimes.
As soon as I saw that this VN had a recommended reading list featuring Camus, Sartre, and Dazai, I knew I was in for a treat—and sure enough, it delivered~
I'll admit, I was a bit taken aback initially by the shock scene right at the beginning, but the slow-burn love triangle drama that unfolds from there is quite the toxic delight, heheheh. I like the use of time jumps instead of flashbacks to introduce the background for the characters in lockstep with the present narrative; it has an organic feeling of memories flashing through Aiko's head during her conversations~
Also, god, I loved how both Miyuna and Aiko were not only spectacularly awful for each other overall, but moreover were each rancid on an individual level in a way that harmonized quite nicely~
Between the art, the music, and the intense toxic yuri, this VN is definitely worth a read! Great work~
wow!! thank you so much!! :D at first, it was rather difficult to decide how to sequence the scenes, but after talking with each other, and after writing stuff bit by bit, we thought this was the best way to condense a story with a lot of "backstory" to it without cluttering the meat of it. me and the other writer really liked unreliable narrators, so we hoped to convey that as much as we could! very happy that you have such high praise for it ^_^
we also greatly love miyuna and aiko, they're basically the culmination of all the nasty traits we like in female characters, most of which are usually stuck in straight stories, so we wanted to change that ^^;;;. thank you so much again!! it means a lot to us :)
oh my god this is so good. The vibes are immaculate and channel the retro feel really well while also highlighting the alternating the cheery and offputting moods.
At the moment I'm only familiar with some of the 'required reading', but I can very well see and appreciate the influences at play here. (There was only one way this story could end.) There's definitely something insightful to 'you see people on their phones reacting to an instagram post but not what the post is' being analagous to 'you see a man reacting to a conversation on a payphone, but you cannot hear him because you are outside the booth' in absurdity.
As a small technical aside, the linux build isn't set up properly, but can run with a little elbow grease-- the .sh file in the root directory and the ones in /lib/py3-linux-x86_64/*.sh need to be given execute permissions (`chmod +x`) <- this is primarily for any other linux user who comes across this
auueueh thank you so much for the kind words!!! im very happy you got the references/influences from the works in the list :D
ahhh ok!! i'll put the technical note on the page, thank you for letting me know! (i personally don't have a linux and just clicked the ren'py build button, so i couldnt test it, oops ^^;;)
Ohhh this was a painful read. I loved the art, and the presentation reminded me a lot of older classic vns. I also really liked the little splash pages in between both chapters and just scene changes, it added a nice finesse to the whole game. God, having paranoia like that and having it be confirmed is devastating, I feel like the ending was inevitable. Poor Aiko.
thank you so much for the kind words!!! aiko's delusions are hard to differentiate from reality, and we tried our best to convey this as much as we could :3 we love her very much but this story wouldnt of ended any other way lol
This is why you should never date someone who’s into literature because if they know you’re into it too, they’ll be really attached to you. Good stuff.
This is really intense and keeps that pace throughout, getting that finish at the end gave me the jubilation a triathlon runner feels breaking the tape of the finish line. The art is super cute and gives it a really nostalgic feeling, like i could have found this being talked about in a forum a decade ago. READ IT!
i thought the art and presentation was really nice, especially the cgs. overall the visual elements definitely gave it the retro vibe you were going for :3 i also liked the writing at times where the scenes were more explicit about the love triangle situation. will be planning a funeral for gen-kun tho /halfjoking.
thank u so much !! we're glad u liked the game :D everyone who worked on it also thanks u for the compliments! (gen will make a return in the future... who knows... lol)

unique experience, i couldn't help but shake at how the history was going
should i be happy at the ending? should i be satisfied? maybe i shouldn't. maybe i should.
i need to process this
i love it.
thank you! :)
hell is other people!!!
I'm like a freak who is obsessed with absurdism so the reading list for this game was kind of like crack or candy to me.
I got so giddy when the No Exit parallels really started to line up with this specific cast of characters.
This game is really something special!
thank u so much!! we're very happy to hear that it lined up nicely :3

:3 thanks!!
I felt like I was playing a long lost al|together jam game, and even one of the gay ones. Good unrelenting atmophere!
