hot take: aether currents in ffxiv aren't that bad at all. in fact it's kind of nice to take a little walk around and have an incentive to navigate an environment. like outside of field operation content there isn't a lot of "explore this area" type stuff to do in the game. dungeons are linear corridors, raids are single room arenas. the game making you occasionally figure out how to climb a mountain is good for your health
