About
The Brooklyn Sweater Trend is a draw your OC trend based on a photo of a confusingly designed sweater or one-piece top with what appears to be sleeves for a leg and an arm on the left half and a single, large opening on the right, the words "1898 Brooklyn New York" written across the chest. The photo started going viral on social media in early December 2025 for its bizarre design, resulting in artwork that depicts well-known and original characters trying to wear it properly.
Origin
On December 3rd, 2025, Facebook[1] user Nguyen Huong Dynasty posted a photograph of a sweater with the words "1898 Brooklyn New York" printed across the front. The sweater has one large hole on the right-hand side and on the left, what appears to be an arm hole and a leg hole. It is unclear if the sweater is intentionally designed this way or if it was an error in manufacturing or a custom creation. The post, which reads, "Then what to wear," garnered roughly 590 reactions in just under two weeks.
