"SpongeBob Uses Too Much Sauce" is video clip taken from an episode of the children’s animated television show SpongeBob SquarePants that features the titular character making a comical face and muttering “uh.”

Origin

On March 22nd, 2002, an episode of SpongeBob titled “The Algae’s Always Greener” aired on Nickelodeon.^[1] In the episode, upon being scolded Plankton, his boss at the Krabby Patty resturant, for using "too much sauce" on the burgers, SpongeBob goes into such a state of shock that his face becomes sketched on and sad looking while he mutters “uh” uncontrollably.

The earliest known YouTube instance of this clip, a Spartan techno remix, was uploaded by TheNewMightyChalaza^[2] on February 19th, 2010. Over the course of four years, the video accumulated over 213,000 views. remix starts at (0:11)

On February 19th, 2011, YouTuber jesseslifke^[3] uploaded a ten minute insane edition of the original scene repeating in a loop (shown below, top left). As of March 2014, the video has over 1.5 million views. On November 19th, 2011, Garrettsf^[6] uploaded the clip on repeat set to Bonnie Tyler’s pop ballad “Total Eclipse of the Heart” (top right). As of March 2014, the video has over 5,000 views. On February 7th, 2012 YouTuber daisyhinojosa23^[5] uploaded the clip at half speed so the audio sounded inappropriate (bottom left). As of March 2014, it has over 14,000. On February 3rd, 2013, YouTuber HowToUseYourBalls^[4] uploaded the clip on a ten hour loop (bottom right). As of March 2014, it has over 16,000 views.
