On April 3rd, 2024, TikTok^[5] user @orbssyai made a prompt to an AI tool to recreate King Baldwin IV Hand Raise meme with other characters, which included the SpongeBob SquarePants character Patrick Star. The post amassed over 18 million plays and 2 million likes in eight months.

The earliest known usage of Patrick Star's Hand Raise meme was posted on May 23rd, 2024, on X^[1] by user @def_dio, The post (seen below) received more than 6 million views and 131,000 likes in seven months.

Spread

The image became widely used as a reaction image by Brazilians and the Spanish-speaking online community, known as "el consejo ha decidido," which translates as "the council has decided." For instance, on September 27th, 2024, YouTube^[2] user @El_guardian_nuv posted Patrick's hand raise meme, captioning "EL CONSEJO A DECIDIDO," which amassed roughly 920 views and 24 likes in three months.

On October 7th, 2024, the Facebook^[3] page @Cinépolis used the "el consejo ha decidido" meme to praise the Dreamworks animated film The Wild Robot. The post (seen below) garnered over 474 likes and 27 shares in two months.
