Amazing! ZeniMax Online Studios have just honored the passionate fanartists they stole designs from without permission by naming characters in the Elder Scrolls universe after them! LadyNerevar, the artist whose design for Queen Alessia was appropriated in the Greymoor DLC, has been immortalized through the character of Indoril Nerevar, Hortator and peacekeeper of the First Council of Morrowind! In a more subtle tribute, the artist whose Sotha Sil design was used for the Crown Store’s Mercymother tattoo set relan-daevath’s name was altered to create Brelan Neloren, an NPC in the Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind DLC! We tip our hats to ZeniMax for their commitment to making amends, and congratulate these artists for having their names forever etched into the Elder Scrolls!

I know this is a joke account, but…

That’s not my art. That drawing is by RedMorpho, and is based on my art of Alessia, and my art of Alessia is based on Michael Kirkbride’s version of her.

I think it’s awesome that Zenimax looked at our designs and canonized them. They put their own spin on her while honoring what RM, MK, and I did. Unlike just taking a 2d image and turning it into a tattoo, this was clearly done out of love.

An Illustrated Guide to the Not-So-Humble Mudcrab

While most Mudcabs are content to masquerade as rocks, some have adapted a more unusual camouflage.

The colorful Coral Crabs of Alinor, for example, blends perfectly into the ancient coastal reefs of the region.

The Mudcrabs of Valenwood, meanwhile, have a symbiotic relationship with the eponymous woods of the province. Tiny trees grow in the rich river mud on the crabs’ shells, using the crustacean’s travels to spread their seeds.

Nearby, the Pyandonean past time of Mudcrab fighting has gained popularity along the southern coast and islands of Elsweyr and Valenwood. It is customary to attach jewelry, spikes, or even bone into shells of juvenile crabs to give them a more fearsome appearance.

On the other side of Tamriel, the Mudcrabs of the Telvanni peninsula, in Morrowind’s remote north-east, are covered in the same molds and mushrooms as their habitat.

Far to Tamriel’s west, the blighted atolls and fibrous seas of what used to be the southern Yqd are home to crabs whose limbs are out of scale with their bodies, and whose crusty upper shells are covered in all manner of strange, symbiotic creatures.
