Original post below:

I’m very excited to announce The Harbinger’s Path, a Trahearne and Malyck Guild Wars 2 fan comic!

I’ve made a little preview page with more info coming soon! The address is in the last image above.

The Harbinger’s Path is a completely fan-made project, unofficial, and not affiliated with ArenaNet – it’s a small passion-project I’ve decided to do while not part of the Creative Partnership, as I felt more comfortable working on something more personal to me on my own.

Especially as I’m not sure how much interest there might be in this project beyond my own specific tastes - though of course, I hope someone else might also enjoy it, too. ;)

Also, I’ve seen the recent tumblr posts - I’m hopeful this site will keep on kicking, but just in case: I plan to also post updates to bsky, and I even learned how to add an RSS feed for the website :O The link is on the preview page!

(If I had known how easy it was to create your own RSS feed, I would have done so years ago!)

2025 Art Summary

Lots of comic pages this year (50 finished pages! I didn’t realize until counting yesterday), but also a few more paintings than I remember doing. Also the Trahearne-Malyck practice 2D animation in October! (Not shown above, but hopefully it’s not too difficult to find.)

Next year, I want to do more small comic projects and 2D animations, alongside drawings and paintings! I know I went in a few different directions this year; thank you for being here as I’ve followed where my whims have lead. It means a lot to me, and hopefully these projects have amused or surprised you - as I hope future ones might next year!

I wish you fond moments and memories over your holidays~

Comparison with the original 2021 version is up now on my sketchblog - but you'll have to hunt for this yourself, as I'm sort of self-conscious about the older painting. And didn't want to post it here, lol.

Idea is inspired by a fun fan theory I saw at the time on reddit/tumblr, when they re-added the "Mist Stranger" NPC to Eye of the North.

The theory is that the Mist Stranger might be Trahearne, perhaps from an alternate timeline. I couldn't remember whether the theory originated from an individual, or collection of fans - I was curious and looked into it a bit, and it was mentioned by @brax-was-here and @knight-of-the-thorn (thanks to Brax for sharing this info with me!), and at least one user on the gw2 sub at the time.

This theory isn't part of my personal headcanon, but I enjoyed seeing the speculation. :)

I’ve loved learning more about Kyris’s characters this year (she’s a fantastic writer), and it was a treat drawing them based on her fics. :D

Kyris asked if I could try the style I’ve been drawing The Harbinger’s Path in, which I haven’t offered as a style option before. I’m thankful to her for asking me to try something new!

Thanks so much again, Kyris!

Add your entries in so I can see–! :D

Unsounded’s fanworks contest accepts both fan art AND fan FIC which I’ve always appreciated about it (I don’t know if that’s common and I’m oblivious - I also haven’t kept abreast of creator contests nowadays - but it always stood out to me as especially welcoming whenever the contest rolls around).

Whether you are a fan of the visual or verbose variety, you can participate with equal enthusiasm in this contest! :D

unsoundedi can't wait to see everyone's works!also how did i miss this delightful murkoph drawing from 2016?i am a bad fan :pin my defense those years were a whirlwind for me there's much i missed online for several years
lady-quen asked:

Also a thought I forgot to include in the earlier ask:

What are your thoughts about the outfit "Harbinger of Mordremoth"? Not particularly in the aesthetics sense, (but do give your input on it if you'd like!!) but the story implications. I almost wonder if that was meant to be what Malyck would wear in HoT before the whole plotline was scrapped.

I am also super honored you're interested in my Malyck headcanons!! Ngl, while he's always been in the back of my mind, I only started developing him for my verse because of all your art of him :D

Admittedly, I ended up going for something rather similar in the sense that he winds up serving Mordremoth. Since he expresses a wish to find his family I thought he may wander into Maguuma on the lookout for his Tree and get manipulated into Mordy's service. That, or the additional idea he is directly Mordy's Firstborn and awakened specifically for the purpose of visiting the Grove and preparing the sylvari for Mordremoth's return. From then on, either something happened to cause him to lose his memories, or he was always without a clear idea of who he is as part of Mordremoth's grand plan. A sort of sleeper agent. Ironically, this plot is a little bit similar to my Jormag scion, Numen xD

In my main verse, he ends up fighting my Commander during HoT and either dies or everyone *thinks* he died, but he wakes up later and has to attempt to find himself once more after Mordy's death. Leading to many years of spiritually driven self-exile and possibly emerging later on to interact with the main plot again. He's just a fascinating little guy, isn't he.

Also, consider: all of the above with the added twist that as Mordremoth's Firstborn he is a secret dragon scion. Would lead to major story tweaks to account for !Another Dragon! but, food for thought.

(I say all this while also telling myself I don't need a third thief whom I will rarely ever play. Lol if you read all this you're a real one 😂)

Now that “The Harbinger’s Path” Ch3 is on hiatus until Jan 2026, instead of a new page today, I can finally answer this ask I eagerly wished to reply to last Wednesday. :D

I answered the first part of Quen’s ask on my sideblog here last month, but wanted to wait until last Monday’s page (pg 20) before answering the second half. Because I wouldn’t have been able comment on the rest without mentioning a few major spoilers for Chapter 3! (especially pgs 20-21)

(The rest of this post has spoilers for “The Harbinger’s Path” up to the latest page - currently pg 21, ch3.)

Quen! Your headcanon ASTUTELY aligns with mine in having Malyck be “Mordremoth’s firstborn.” :D I’m honored my art of him helped encourage you to develop him even more for your stories!

I love that you also thought this was an arresting idea to explore with him! It’s so fun, isn’t it? :D The thought of Malyck being Mordremoth’s first sylvari born outside the Pale Tree is so creatively invigorating to think about, and I love that you also developed your own take on this idea! It adds several potential dimensions to his motivations. Which can be taken in a multitude different ways, and different interpretations. All worthy of exploring!

I also love the parts of your headcanon that differ from mine! Mentioning how he is similar to Numen makes me want to learn more about them. :D I love seeing the variety of ways these characters can be interpreted. I love that you took him past HoT’s conclusion, and developed how his path might have went afterward. Most of my thoughts of him post-HoT are more ooc than anything, and less developed than when they’re deep within the nest of thorns that’s HoT-times… ;p

I look forward to any art or written work you might do involving his storyline in your headcanon in the future! (Also, feel free to send it my way directly if it ever seems I haven’t seen it. I find tumblr’s main feed difficult to keep up with - I don’t know how you all do it! - and I miss a lot here unless it’s in my notifications.)

Cadeyrn WIP

"I am first!"

One of my longtime favorite characters from the early sylvari lore - his backstory is so beautifully written.

He may or may not still be alive in my ever-sprawling headcanon, haha.

I've never been able to draw him to my satisfaction, but that doesn't stop me from trying!

seems appropriate to share this one again after yesterday's comic page update :Dstill a WIP - and croppedfull version is about half-bodythere are a number of errors i would like to fix now that i don't think i could have last yearbut i think i would be able to nowor at least better than last yearonly need to find time among all the other projects and irl things to tackle!it will likely be in 2026 nowanother 2026 aim! :Di might have a few other portraits like these also in various stages of progress i hope to finish in 2026landy's art

Chapter 3, page 17 of The Harbinger’s Path now up!

Read the latest page here.

The potential for what was teased in Heart of Thorns’ launch trailer endlessly inspires me. :’)

(If you’re not clear what I’m referring to, watch the opening lines of that 10-year(!) old trailer after reading to the final line of this page - especially coupled with the previous pg 16.)

Next page updates Wednesday!
