Arunala Insights: Elderly, Employment and Empowerment | Arunala Institute
Another week, another meaningful discussion. This time, we had the honor of meeting with the Directorate General of Manpower Placement Development and Employment Expansion from Ministry of Manpower 🇮🇩. Our conversation went beyond policies and statistics to view aging and productivity. Discussions around the #elderly cannot focus only on #care and #dependency, because in reality older adults are a source of experience, resilience, and inspiration. We agree that the #elderlyecosystem should not end at care, it should extend to empowerment, employment opportunities, and sustainable productivity. Our older citizens should have the chance to stay active, contribute, and thrive. We’re sharing our insights from the discussion here..

Reimagining Aging in Indonesia | Arunala Institute
On the 2025 International #OlderPersonsDay, we revisit our first #PolicyBrief (launched on Indonesia’s Older Person Day, May 29, 2025). Indonesia’s elderly population will double by 2045 from 32.6M (12%) to 65.8M (20%). To prepare for the next 20 years, we must invest early in #integrated, #inclusive policies that ensure #dignity and #security for older adults. Beyond #healthcare and #pensions, #Indonesia needs coordinated and collective community-based care; learning from Japan, Europe, the US, and Australia. Priorities include stronger #care #infrastructure, qualified #caregivers accessible emergency services, and cross-sector collaboration. Together, we can build an #AgeFriendlyIndonesia where every older person lives with #dignity, #security, and #connection. ✨ Happy International Older Persons Day! ✨ Dyah Larasati Ruddy Gobel Martin Daniel Siyaranamual
