Purpose
The Matrescence Center exists because pregnancy and early parenting change everything, and too many people are expected to carry that transformation alone. While medical systems focus on clinical outcomes, there are few places built to care for the needs of the whole person in the middle of it all.
A project of the Kansas Birth Justice Society, the Matrescence Center centers pregnant and parenting people most often left out—Black, Brown, Indigenous, immigrant, queer, individuals and families—while welcoming all people in solidarity. The Matrescence Center offers care without judgment, real support, and room to breathe, because no one should have to navigate this season alone.
