The Cursed Automaton
[From the notes of the missing research group member.]
“…The creature was discovered among the abandoned underground ruins. Presumably, it is a product of unknown technology and ritualistic magic of a deceased civilization, and the purpose of its usage remains a mystery. The type of metallic alloy covering the object’s body could not be determined. It is forbidden for us to approach it, but some of the daredevils from the reconnaissance group disobeyed. They paid for it with their lives. What madness guided them? The creature does not exhibit primitive behavioral patterns and remains inactive most of the time (or at least it appears so to us), but it reacts to vibrations in the air, sensing everything around it from a considerable distance. In response to any intrusion, the object’s behavior shifts to hostile-aggressive. This thing seems intelligent, but how is that possible? I’m slowly losing my mind. My head has been splitting since we descended into these damned ruins. I hear voices, but I don’t understand what they’re saying. This place wants to kill us all.”
