The fact that thousands of Jewish families across the United States are being forced to decide whether to send their children to their first day of school or observe their religious practices is just more proof that antisemitism is culturally Ingrained and that westerners never cared about diversity or considering religious and ethnic minorities. Having one of the most important school days on one of the most important Jewish holidays (Rosh Hashanah) is so tone deaf, especially with the increasing amount of antisemitism and violence against America’s Jewish community this year.

Hey can we queers please remember that the rural queer experience has unique challenges thanks

Coming out is different when you know if you come out to one person you risk the whole town knowing. Coming out is different when religion is entwined in your entire community. Being queer is different when you can’t trust that your doctor or therapist will stay confidential. Being queer is different when conversion therapy is subtle and normalized. Transitioning is different when there aren’t gender clinics or gender therapists for 50 miles. School is different when other kids are put at risk by being seen with you. Can we stop acting like there aren’t queer people living in rural areas and start supporting them

Shut up. Please just shut up. I am literally a rural queer person. Every example I listed is one I’ve personally experienced that’s why I made this post. Please I’m begging you to stop policing how queer people talk about themselves if you don’t like it just don’t reblog it’s that simple

You can filter out posts now with the word queer! You don’t have to see it! You don’t have to use it! You can even block me if you want so you never see my posts! But it is not REMOTELY okay to come on my post about my experiences and tell me that the word I and the community I’ve lived in my entire life have used to describe ourselves for years isn’t okay. I have IDed as queer for years. So have the majority of LGBTQ folks from my hometown. You do not speak for the entire rural community. You do not get to tell other people in the exact same position as you what they are and aren’t allowed to call themselves. You don’t have to like it! You don’t have to identify as queer! But you absolutely DO NOT get to tell me that I don’t support my own community

[ID: three screenshots reading:
“Also most rural LGBT people don’t like the Q word because it’s still used as a slur.”
“As a trans, mlm hick I strongly suggest that the first step be y’all stop callin all lgbt folks “queers”.”
“You can support them by not calling them a slur like how you did.”
End ID]

Remember the Muslim Americans lost to islamophobic violence this 9/11. Remember the civilians whose lives were destroyed by the United States’ cruel war campaigns in the Middle East. Remember those tortured and killed indiscriminately by United States troops, humiliated and violated for soldiers’ sick fun. Remember there is blood on our hands too. The violence we committed cannot be forgiven.

I wouldn’t even be “dead”, I wouldn’t have developed a consciousness in the first place. “What if you had been aborted” has the same moral weight as “what if your parents hadn’t had sex that night and you weren’t conceived?” Maybe it’s an argument against time travel messing with the past, but it’s not a justification to force people to have sex because otherwise a future person won’t be conceived.

Meanwhile in terms of actual events - if my mother hadn’t been able to have an abortion the first time she was pregnant and wait till she was ready, I probably wouldn’t exist.

What anti-choicers call a “heartbeat” is the sound the ultrasound machine makes when it detects electrical activity. That’s the language that should be used. It’s about time we stop using the exaggerated language of anti-choicers and use the unremarkable language known as the truth.

Mexico's Supreme Court Decriminalizes Abortion : NPR

Mexico's Supreme Court has ruled that it is unconstitutional to punish abortion as a crime, a landmark ruling that clears the way for the legalization of abortion across the country.

The court took up the issue on Monday when eight of 11 justices voted to revoke a law in the state of Coahuila that punished women with up to three years in prison for having an abortion — even in cases of rape. The other three justices joined in the decision Tuesday, declaring such laws unconstitutional.

"Today is a historic day for the rights of all Mexican women," said Supreme Court Chief Justice Arturo Zaldivar on Tuesday.

"It is a watershed in the history of the rights of all women, especially the most vulnerable," he added.

The ruling sets a precedent that would force judges across Mexico  home to one of the world's largest populations of Catholics — to hand down similar rulings and expands early abortion for millions of women in Mexico's 32 states.

Ok I was done. I was done saying anything because this is a fun blog, not a political, religious, or activist blog. But as we lead up into Rosh HaShanah I am seeing more and more christians insisting that it is their right to celebrate it because Jesus was Jewish. I see them blowing their shofarot and “preaching” their virtues. I see them “spreading awareness” about the New Year, like it’s some new thing and not an ancient tradition. I see them telling actual Jewish people that it’s not cultural appropriation because Jesus was Jewish, like that gives them any right.

Leave our culture alone. We have been killed simply because we exist and we’re different, and you want to use our culture to feel special and holy and “not like the other Christians”?

Goyim, feel free to interact but please be respectful.

I’m getting really tired of seeing takes that articulate that gender essentialism is Bad but only mention how it harms AMAB enbies and binary trans women. Because it contributes to this atmosphere that anyone who IDs as a man is still inherently suspect and deserve the issues created by gender essential.

Cis women live is this weird fantasy world where they think “male privilege” means “men do not ever encounter suffering” or more specifically “men never encounter suffering due to their gender”. Completely forgetting the issues that cis men of color, openly queer men, disabled and mentally ill men, and trans men face every single day. And their bullshit “misandry” exacerbates and they just…don’t register how that’s a problem?

It’s a sign of performative activism and it’s a sign that, like most people on tumblr, they’ve memorized combinations of words to say to get their Extra Special Woke Points but have never actually analyzed their own biases.

Basically, trans men (and men in general) ARE HUMAN BEINGS and our feelings and experiences matter. Stop acting like the reason gender essential is bad is ONLY because it hurts trans women.
