I’ll be honest what upset me the most is he sees all the discourse that’s going on within the fandom. Him making that comment shows that he’s a lot more online and involved more then we even know and the only thing he wanted to call out was us complaining about him singing 1D songs instead of his own solo music?
Regarding the No Control song after the crowd finished singing it at the end he came back on stage and acknowledged it, I’ve seen the video on Twitter he says “see I knows you liked the 1D songs” so he wasn’t upset at all about that. It just irritates me because it also gives power to the OT5 fans in the fandom.

hi anon,
I don’t really want to spend more time on this, but just wanted to briefly respond to this final ask about the whole situation.
First off, I think for people who’ve been around for (far too) long it’s (unfortunately) not a surprise that he is more involved or aware of discourse than some fans might initially assume. There is a lot that happens outside of the public space, which is why it’s even more notable when he makes such a public comment about something entirely irrelevant to the audience that’s physically there with him in the moment.
I also think that there are things he probably would be better off not knowing about or wading into, but it’s hard when you’ve become big off the wave of parasocial fan relationships and the slow erasure of the fourth wall through social media.
As for the No Control song, lol - I didn’t know it happened here too. I was just making a general remark based off his solo tour where it happened prior to his encore.
Funny that if he truly felt like that type of shouting validates his choices to sing 1D songs, then it’s equally funny he actually has never sung the one song people are also “whinging” about/have asked for all this time.
The 1D nostalgia is a very difficult beast to tame, and especially for Louis as it’s so enmeshed with how people rarely see him as one part of 1D but usually always as part of a particular dynamic or duo within 1D. Not even necessarily romantic, but it’s hardly ever singular.
But when you feed the beast, it’s just going to fester and keep growing/mutate over time. I wish him good luck with it, because it will eat and swallow his solo career whole if taken too far.
Anyways, it’s also kind of ironic that he’d dedicate “Drag Me Down” to people who want him to sing/show less of One Direction and more of himself. As if they are the deadweight who keep him from doing what he loves or “drag him down” 🤷
At the end of the day, he knows exactly what that comment would do and how it would feed into fans fighting each other for the “best, most pure Louis fan” badge of honor. If he wants to bestow that upon fans who shout for No Control instead of Silver Tongues, that’s his choice.
If you decide to then like him more or less because of that choice, that’s also completely valid. Or maybe you don’t care, or find it annoying but it does not affect your feelings. All fair! But let’s at least acknowledge that he didn’t just say it for shits and giggles. He said it with intent and he should own the consequences.
lol. well fuck you too Louis 🥰
Louis: How’re you doing? There’s a lot going on. I’m with you, though.
Fan: I’m scared.
Louis: There’s a lot going on, there’s a lot going on. I’m with you, though.
