When i read articles like this

https://www.pastemagazine.com/tv/heated-rivalry/heated-rivalry-queer-sex-tv-raises-bar-hbo-max

and they don‘t even mention IWTV it really pisses me off. Do you also think that we are back to square one, meaning everyone is just ignoring the show? Is it really just the horror element or that it isn‘t an easily digestable show? The queer element obviously can‘t be the problem.

And then I read articles being critical of the new direction of the show before we even had more than a teaser from the first episode(s). In one of the 2026-TV show lists published the last week an outlet raised the question if the show might „jump the shark“ with the new season. On what basis are they making that kibd of assumptions. Are the outlets already preparing to write their slating reviews or what?

Seeing all the praise for Heated Rivslry, watching the stars appear on big late night shows, and now the two lead s being announced to present an award at the Golden Globes really makes me question how much chance TVL has of becoming a success. Rolin continues to say that nobody is ready for the next season. He might be right about that… If people were more intersted in feel-good-entertainment than in complex storytelling in 2025, 2026 might be the worst year for TVL to come out.

Sorry to vent here but I am do fucking frustrated right now.

Okay, so people criticizing the season before it’s even out cannot be taken seriously. Like that is rubbish, and has to be click bait only.

The other thing, about HR and IWTV not even being mentioned is a bit different.

IWTV, the VC, are about vampires. Which provides… a hurdle for audiences. It’s the Dracula memory, the Twilight memory - people dismiss it because of this aspect, and the combination of it being very much queer does, unfortunately, not help with a lot of people.

There’s also the aspect that some people (personally experienced that) find seeing what is described in the books too violent (they actually told me (about the first episode!!!): “oh, the show is so gory, so violent, I cannot watch this, the books never had this kind of gore”, and I just felt like staring into the camera like on the office, remembering Khayman and his little feeding habits, to just name one thing… but I digress.)

And then there’s the thing that HR is extremely well done and refreshingly explicit… but it’s about the relationship mostly, about the humans in the story. In a setting in “our” reality, and with very relatable and current issues.

IWTV seems to have a lot of relatable issues, but most of them are very much twisted by the sheer fact that these beings are vampires and their baggage and their origins are different. Their relationships work similarly on the surface - and very differently underneath. The show is a layered masterpiece, and its reasons and story do not wholly unfold immediately or on first watch.

That, too, presents a hurdle for a lot of people. And a lot of people only see the surface story, and misinterpret the show, but that is another story.

HR is right now.

And they deserve their moment in spotlight! And the fact that they do have it, as a queer, explicit show, is a good thing!!!

TVL will have its own when it breaks, no worries about that. They are gonna go big with the rockstar angle.

It might not be mainstream the same way HR is for… reasons.

But we know AMC is preparing, and they have started the teaser dropping :)

Just… wait until it drops. ;)
