i can imagine a million different ways buck and eddie end up at that intervention and they are all so good. athena calls buck and tells him to bring eddie. she tells them both at the same time and they both just nod and go along with it because she’s got her scary face on. she calls them and invites them separately and eddie calls buck like are you going im only going if you’re going. athena invites them but doesn’t tell them what it is and they show up and don’t figure it out until the trauma cop comes out of the kitchen and now they’re stuck. she invites them separately and doesn’t tell them and they don’t tell each other and then they both show up and have to whisper debrief while athena is pouring everyone’s wine. i can’t lose, this world is so beautiful.
if im being really honest i think the idea of eddie pining while buck assumes eddie is straight and continues to be a freak about him is the stuff of dreams.
there is something so chef’s kiss about it. the show avoids the whole “pining for my straight best friend” thing and the audience knows they’re Going There but also the dramatic irony of buck still being crazy. We Know textually that eddie is in love with buck but buck is doing everything in his power to fight the allegations while wine moms across the country clock him left right and center like they’ve been doing since march.
