people saying “don’t use your full government name for your ao3”, “create different emails for work and personal use” but personally I think it’s both sad and dystopian how capitalism/companies/even schools think they have the rights to cross your personal boundaries and insert themselves into your personal life. like, I get it, safety wise, why checking digital footprints can be important sometimes. but a gay fanfiction is not a fucking threat that could ever cause anybody harm. it’s funny (not really, it’s still sad and dystopian) how they now think they can control your personal life and prevent you from having hobbies

if it’s good enough for you, then it deserves to be made. don’t let anyone else decide if your story is worth it or not.
Many people are aware that copyright originated as and remains a protection for publishers, not authors.
However, there are longstanding rights intended to protect authors. These are legally called ‘the moral rights of authors.’ Good naming.
These rights include:
The right to attribution. To have your name on your work. Don’t repost peoples work without attribution.
The right to use a pen name or to publish anonymously. Publishers should protect the privacy of authors. Service providers shouldn’t require posters to provide ID.
The right to integrity. Editors should not cut up your work to make it say something you do not endorse.
So let’s review:
❌ AI harms authors because it violates copyright.
✅ AI harms authors because it violates their rights to attribution and integrity.

can non natives stop acting surprised and performatively jokey “uhh what lol!” about ice going after native americans. theyve been doing this for years and it ramped up last year and i had to hear all the stupid “uhhhh where will u deport them to 😜 silly republicans!” comments as if its not always been about detaining torturing murdering using as slave labor scattering communities through fear and intimidation etc. be an adult and act with maturity please. its not quirky or confusing its directly in line with americas racism and white supremacy to make sure native americans are eradicated
I think it’s notable also particularly in the Minneapolis context that of the 6 or so (US) Native people I have heard of being detained in the past few days there, at least half were unhoused. This context is important esp given the recent history (I can’t remember the year but starting sometime when I lived there from 2016-2020) of police violently dismantling encampments of Native unhoused people. the Native population in Minneapolis is like 5% but Native people make up almost half the unsheltered homeless population, iirc. the ICE harassment of tribal citizens is not of course limited to unhoused Natives but I think it’s important to see the connections of how these developments are connected to previous and ongoing violence against unhoused people
gothic horror is when there’s a location. cosmic horror is when there’s an unauthorized fucking Thing. folk horror is when you’re outside.
Controversial opinion apparently but a fucking ad should not have control over my phone’s volume or the ability to pause anything else that is playing
