THE ELDEST DAUGHTER. miìayieo te tsika'u ronal'ite
born eldest daughter from metkayina clan’s olo'eyktan, tonowari and tsahik, ronal. unlike her two younger siblings, aounung and tsireya—who both take after their father; miìayieo is like her mother. Fierce, critical, protective with passion and love in her heart towards the people she cares about.
when the sounds of the horn blared across the village, signaling that a new sign of life was entering the reefs, miìayieo gathered alongside her family to greet the forest navi, toruk makto and his family seeking uturu, a sanctuary of safety for his family. Much like her mother, miìayieo was hesitant about the change, forest people have no use in the sea? how will she know if they won’t bring their war here? Yet despite her worries and fears, the family is grated permission to stay in the village. tsireya, unlike her sister is excited for this change— already catching interest from the sully’s youngest boy, lo’ak. miìayieo struggles to adjust to the change, while tsireya and roxto were eager to help the siblings learn the ways of the reef, she and aounung were hesitant to comply, that was until miìayieo began to find herself opening up more to the sully’s oldest, neteyam.
THE ELDEST SON: neteyam te suli tsyeyk'itan
born in the forest of the omatikaya clan— neteyam, the oldest son of jake sully and neytiri, grew up as his father’s golden child. He learned from a young age the importance of hunting and being a leader. when his siblings were born; neteyam was dedicated to be the leader that they needed. Having his father’s protectiveness and loyalty while also trying to prove himself he could be the son his parents can rely on.
unlike his younger brother, lo’ak — who was already causing trouble and conflict in the village with his ability to easily disregard his fathers orders (out of the goodness of his own heart) neteyam understood the rules his father untrusted him and his siblings, “don’t cause any problems or trouble”. While neteyam couldn’t help contribute much to the reefs and the sea, he could however— help gather and supply the necessary materials that miìayieo needed in her daily tasks. out of all of the sully children, miìayieo found herself becoming close with the eldest boy, finding his respectful and noble personality to be refreshing to be around. Shortly after two began to develop a friendship, despite ronal’s wishes.

miìayieo & neteyam: the first meeting
“daughter, attend to the forest, beyond the trees and gather herbs for the festival tonight. The Tulkun are coming and we must be prepared” ronal spoke with authority, looking up as miìayieo finishes weaving the last braid in tsireya’s hair, adding in a shell and a few pearls for the special occasion. Hearing her mothers words, miìayieo agrees— quickly grabbing her pouch and tying it to her loincloth before setting off pass the warmth of the village as the navi gleam and bustle in excitement at the return of their spirit brothers and sisters who travel across the seas for the night of celebration.
branches snap with the rustle of a bush as miìayieo makes her way towards the designated area for her herb gathering. in all honesty, miìayieo was always scared of the forest that was beyond her village— she never knew what to expect from it and what creatures may lurk but she continued on her path.
once reaching the spot, the sounds of speaking could be heard as the voice was familiar to her, turning the corner to see neteyam, in a tree as in his hand is the dawn fruit the miìayieo was supposed to gather— all of it gone. neteyam looked from above the tree, giving the metkayina a friendly smile as it quickly falters as the boy notices the navi’s angered expression. miìayieo, angered and devastated about the lack of the fruit for her spirit sister, rushed over to the tree as she gasps at the sight of the left over fruit, only the stem remaining; looking over at Neteyam she hissed.
“you skxawng! the dawn fruit is for tulkun! not eat!” she huffed, her english broken as she exclaims. “no manners! this is not your forest!” she continues as the boy wince at the scolding.
“I’m sorry— I didn’t know, my dad wanted me to find us something from the forest— I can try to find you more—” neteyam frowns an apology already coming from him but miìayieo shook her head, kicking the stems away with another hiss.
“There is no time left— to prepare dawn fruit takes hours for Tulkun,” she huffs again, walking pass the tree in pursuit of a hunt for dawn fruit , heading footsteps quickly behind her — she turns to see neteyam at her side as she frowns.
“what do you want skxawng?? go! return to the village!”
“let me help you find some fruit”
she looks over at him, agitated and confused yet the boy was persistent on trying to help as she eventually huffs, agreeing to the help to Neteyam’s surprise, as the two began down the trail for what they were unaware was the great expedition of dawn fruit.
