Tumblr Theme Reset Glitch

Keep an eye on your blog theme. Tumblr has a recent glitch where some blog themes and theme settings are resetting to their defaults. If this bug strikes your blog, try recovering your custom theme to its latest backup.

From the “Recover Custom Theme” page, choose your blog from the drop-down menu (if needed). Click the “View backups” button. Revert to the latest theme backup then check your blog theme.

If the reversion doesn’t work, seek a cached copy of your blog and check the HTML source to manually restore your theme.

nonukesthanks:

tumblr implemented on-blog advertising, which is why blog theme html keeps getting messed up.

To shut it off:

  1. Click the ‘person’ icon in the top right
  2. Select ‘Settings’
  3. Select your blog from the column on the right
  4. Scroll down to the ‘Advertising’ section
  5. Shut that shit off.

You have to do it for all blogs individually, including side blogs.

ninpen:

jsfiddle - Helps you test out your code instead of using tumbr’s shitty customization page

cssportal - offers a variety of services, including: testing out your css code (gives you a live demo), generators (box-shadow etc) and others

dirtymarkup - Cleans up your code. Basically makes it legible

patternify - creates small patterns (it’s what I use to create my icons). This is honestly my favorite tool.

w3schools, codeacademy, learn-shayhowe, learnlayout - all of these websites help you learn the fundamentals of html/css and more

google - it is literally your best friend. It’ll answer any question you have no matter how vague

stackoverflow- very helpful website. Helps you answer any questions you may have (code related). BUT PLEASE, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SEARCHED YOUR QUESTIONS BEFORE ASKING. These are actual people who are taking their time to answer your questions, and they will take your “question asking” privilege away from you if you abuse it

tutorialzine  codrops- tutorials to help you with coding. It can go from very simple, to “that’s way too much time investment for me”

css-tricks - it’s like a combination of helping you code, to asking questions, to tutorials (this is my favorite website)

behance, dribbble, awwwards - great place to find inspiration

validator - checks the validity of your code

iconfinder - holy grail of icons. Some are free some aren’t

fount - it can identify any font that a webpage is using

colourcode - just check it out.

colorlovers- color palette galore

caniuse- says in the name

Now if you’re trying to see how your code/theme etc looks on different screen resolutions this is how you do.

Google chrome

right click on page then click on inspect or (Ctrl + Shift + I)
look for this (it’s the two ipad looking icons)

image

All you have to do now is input in whatever specs you want
If you don’t want it anymore, just click it again and it’s gone.

Firefox

click on the menu icon (the 3 lines in the right hand corner)

click developer then responsive design view or (Ctrl + Shift + M)

I hope you found this helpful. Enjoy your day

Sticky Notes Tutorial

coded by yukoki & suggested by hyskoa-mourououu

A tutorial for how to add these sticky notes to your theme!! They’re draggable, you can add bold/italic/linked text, and you can close the sticky notes once per page refresh. This tutorial mainly involves a lot of copy-pasting, so it’s not too difficult. I don’t guarantee they’ll work on all blog themes because of conflicting scripts, though.

Empati Tamako

Empati Tamako is a theme designed for photoblogs or portfolio-esque in mind! This theme has a same width and height so the photoset and photo posts will be distorted automagically (if your image is very large or short, of course!). It will shows the lightbox that pops up to load posts when you click the post which comes with two options (click the images to view the caption)—but unfortunately, you have to click the permalink page button if you want to see the notes, reblog, embed and like the posts. This theme also comes with commission page you might also be interested in! As usual, please read the instructions on how to edit and install the page and get the code: here

Here’s the live preview. Before using this theme, please spend your time to read about features, customization guide and get the code: here.

Please, like and/or reblog if you plan/want to use this theme. Thank you very much! (Ahem, if you like my work and have load of cash sitting around, please consider commissioning a custom theme.)

Hey everyone! How are you? ;) hope you are fine!

anyway… I know I said that I was back and was going to be more active, but well…………………………….. I guess I just didn’t hahahha
I am really sorry about that, but things turned out to be quite bold on this side of the screen hahaha I had started college and it was going all nice and fine. However I began working too… so it’s been quite hard to find some free time.

BUT no worries! I am not here to say that I am going to deactivate this blog! actually i was planning to but i feel too bad doing it again SO just please be patient that someday soon I will show up with a new theme and a new layout for this ugly blog hahaha

Take care and hope to see you guys soon!!

This tutorial is specifically for themes that utilise masonry and infinite scroll. An example of this is the columned layout of my Rise And Shine theme.

Anonymous: Hello! I'm using the Surikara#010.2 theme, and I was wondering if you can add a music player to the theme? I've been trying to add a music player, but it's not showing up. Am I just doing it wrong? I am using the SCM Music Player, is that one just incompatible?

Hello!! Yes, it is possible. Well, that’s weird because I tested it here and it works just fine. Be sure to follow correctly the instrunctions that the SCM Music Player gives. If it persists try reinstalling the theme and then adding the music player
