McGonagall, doing her nightly rounds, walks into an empty classroom at entirely the wrong moment.
Finds Sirius half in Remus’ lap, both looking disheveled and extremely guilty.
McGonagall: I’m going to pretend I didn’t see this. Sirius: We were just researching! Remus: …Anatomy? McGonagall: I said I’m pretending, don’t make me revoke that mercy, Professor Lupin. And for Merlin’s sake, fix your robes, Professor Black.
After ten minutes of silence, Sirius asked gently, ‘Remus?’
‘Mm?'
‘Would you prefer if I transform?’
Lupin turned over to face him sleepily, gave an impish smile, and muttered, ‘Come as you are. I won’t bite.’
The lamplight illuminated the agate richness of Lupin’s eyes, the golden-brown remnants of his greying hair. Sirius’s face was veiled in the shadow. He gathered his long serpentine damp hair, tossed it to his right shoulder, and undressed.
‘I’ve missed you, Moony.’
‘And I, you.’
‘Call me by my name, please.’
‘I did.’
‘Not that prissy one my mother picked. The one you gave me.’
Lupin appeared wide awake. He sat up in bed, entwined his long fingers around Sirius’s neck, and pulled his face into his.
‘Come Padfoot,’ he whispered.
