What did he do to deserve this

i am actually insufferable once I get comfortable with someone

What a beautiful thing to be someone a friend feels safe to be vulnerable with

You are SUCH a huge inspiration to me! I have been drawing for years but I feel like my colors are pretty flat and lifeless, I wanted to ask what kind of brushes you use? As well as any tips when it comes to picking a color palette and making everything harmonious? Tysm!

AHH thanks so much! (: I find I usually like one (1) brush and use it for an entire piece. like this painting was done with the one brush below (and on procreate I've been loving Shiyoon Kim's Ink brush)

its just how you go using it? like I would do big fill in's with the brush and then add color by hatching it in!

I find hatching helps meld the colour's together, your eyes just put two and two together, so it does the job of colouring just fine.

Like if you look at Barcelonas jersey. It has hatches of blue in the red of the jersey... but to our eyes, especially when at a distance, it appears more purple than anything!

so same kinda applies here! when using this method while applying colours with a huge saturation or tone disparity the hatches will pop out alot more - the orange and grey/purplish hatches. so you can really experiment and get the texture/colour to pop!

but to get back on track! one thing I do to try to keep a painting harmonious is picking an overall base colour!

So in the early stages of this piece I used a light beige as Beatrice's base, and you can see I plan to make this a warmer piece.

I then applied some colours over the base on a different layer, more saturated than normal for her palette!

And then I reduced the opacity of that saturated layer, so it would meld into the warm beige of the base

and then add details on afterwards, hatching them on to keep it consistent. While we know her dress is blue, it's really just desaturated and grey leaning.

But because the desaturated warm-blue contrasts with the red/orange warm tones in the final piece, it still pops out while being harmonious!

and voila! you can still see the base colour with hatches applied so it retains its warmer quality!

This was a bit long but hopefully it helped! (:

And here was I, suffering with colours when there was a much easier solution!

a concept: Harry Potter with his mother’s hair and father’s eyes instead of vice versa. Harry with fiery dark red hair and soft hazel eyes please and thank you

i imagine this is how harry and draco’s first meeting would have gone then haha

can you imagine how much more confused arthur would have been in that scene where he first meets harry 😂

his eyes would probably sweep right over harry at the breakfast table, and then he would freeze and have to do a mental tally of his children

I can see Fred and George really going with it too… “Come on Dad, don’t you remember Harry?” “Next you’ll tell us you don’t remember Craig” “Or Ethel” “Or Annie“ “Or Ryan”

This actually is a really interesting AU

lahore pigeons are some of the most visually appealing birds out there. like in terms of visual design. very minimalist, good contrast.

Too bad Lahore pigeons are a domestic breed and don’t appear in the wild at all. Some equally balanced wild colorations include

Pygmy Falcon

Great Hornbill

Wallcreeper

and

Black-throated Loon

this is a good addition to this post. thank you for this birds educations

I would like to submit the following additions to the world of exceptional bird color design:

Cedar Waxwing

Red Crowned Crane

Brahminy Kite

Green Tree Swallow (I mean seriously - those are metallic teal feathers against stark white. Damn.)

Bali Mynah

And, last but certainly not least, the cutest fucking puffball on this planet earth:

The Korean Crow-Tit

I’d also like to contribute some pretty awesome birds

Hooded Pitta (or as like to call them little olives)

Coua

Mot-Mot

The Blue Crown Pigeon (the biggest pigeon)

good post

They’re all immensely pretty
