to answer your question yes the game is still in development (According to their Patreon page) The version of Alpha 5.0 is the Flash Archive of the old game. the newer version can be found on patreon. Overall, the game is not dead its just forgtten on the Itch.io Platform

Best bet is to go through itch.io support or contact the developer via discord on that route

have you tried verifying the integrity of the game? if that doesn't fix it then browse the local files of the steam version and use win/rar zip extractor (Breezip i think its called) and manually extract the files

no i updated and lost my save 

Great mechanics like the survival and the campfire interactions but A save file system is needed as it gets very Tedious having to start agin from zero constantly. i wouldn't mind progress being reset if i  lost all the scouts as a game over condition but not when i leave mid run its just annoying and i think other plays can agree to a save file system being needed as well 

you might want to change the dance song for the merchant girl to avoid being copyright struck by DMCA

you need 30hp and the cursed artifact  to be able to withstand her attacks long enough to transform. you'll know if you've done it right because you character will change skin tone to a light vanilla color below you'll find the two states of corruption the first being captured by her at the end of the run at the outskirts 

you need to have the cursed item of werewolf on you since her attack will not do any damage to you apart from the grapple attacks. you also need to have at least 25 - 30hp for the full corruptive transformation. you'll know when you've got it because your skin tone will change to match the werewolf. also you'll need to have been unbirthed by her prior to it for the full effect with the Btch collar

there is only two versions 1 if you get captured by the werewolf at the outskirts and the 2nd being you need the cursed item of the werewolf fur and het captured by her again in a T2 area (just move around and after 10 turns she spawn in and chases you down)

 or elite variant you need to be already corrupted and get captured in a T2 area using the werewolf cursed artifact to  fully corrupt youself into an elite variant 

A corrupted merchant could be a sound addition you have shards so they can be used to both absorb and give corruption

A save file system would be nice as it gets quite boring having to re grind progress again and again

It only applies to specific scenes currently and only triggers if you're going down Katelyn's mom's romance route

no, if you already purchased it before it stopped selling on itch you do not because you already own it 

there's a note detailing how many objects to each room. you need to count how many number of each item there was and it will give you the combination as listed on the note.
