Maybe . . . . . . Centipedes are the equivalent of Dragons in the World of Hollow Knight?

The way Hornet talks about the Bell Eater really stood out to me. She makes it seem as though creatures like it are often at the center of many a Fairytale and Legend, at least among the Bugs of Hallownest. And that, like in our world with tales of knights and dragons, them being slain is a key part.

Which also makes me think. The Battle of the Blackwyrm happened a looooong time ago, according to Ogrim. Maybe the regaling of the battle and presumably the 5 Knights victory was one such tale that Hornet grew up listening to in the palace as a child. Hell, maybe that tale inspired the creation of new centipede slaying fairytales among the bugs of Hallownest that they, in turn, would read to their hatchlings over the generations.

Which makes the presumed Blackwyrm in question . . . . . . . Huh.

What if the "Blackwyrm" was actually just a really big and powerful dark-shelled Centipede that threatened the Kingdom? Hallownests own version of Smaug the Terrible?

I know everyone has their own theories on what the Battle of the Blackwyrm could have possibly been, but what if it was simply the slaying of a Dragon?
