black butler is so damn weird about its storytelling like does that ever hit you
like okay it’s posited as the story of a boy hunting down his family’s killers and yet every single arc has been about stuff that isn’t that. it’s not even on the back burner it’s just straight up not what they do in the show. instead each arc puts said boy into a new situation designed to show the effects of his neuroses for reasons we won’t fully understand until the halfway point of the series. in the meantime enjoy a curry competition and a cricket tournament. there’s also a big scary threat looming over the boy but he’s not the villain he’s actually technically the protagonist and he’s chill for now. none of this has been even tangentially related to seeking his family’s killers. just when you start to really wonder where all this is going BAM a reveal that recontextualizes absolutely everything we thought we knew about the boy. not about the family murders though. btw it turns out the Plot actually kinda started with the zombie titanic because it first laid the narrative groundwork for all This. what is This you ask? well we’ve reached a point where there’s more post-reveal story than pre-reveal story and we still have no idea. coming up on 20 years, a majority of which has been post-world’s-biggest-twist, we have no motive for who we must assume to be the villain of the current decade-long arc, not to be confused with whoever killed the kid’s parents, which is still entirely unexplored. it’s an action show it’s gloomy horror they invented jpop in late victorian britain
Man, this is giving me too much of the feels. So far we have seen the chill/laidback & badass versions of Shanks. Never such a vulnerable version. So he’s lowkey self-loathing and has a bad HABIT of regretting where he came from. Great. Not like I didn’t expect it but it’s a whole other thing to see it in the source material. How can someone so warm and confident be like this underneath ??? He probably also thought he’s not worthy to go after the one piece and someone like Ace with the correct lineage should do it. Hmm I wonder if he grew out of it a bit, or if it’s still the same right now ? Poor baby. This only makes me love him more though. And Gaban is the best dad figure. I am dying you have murdered me! I’m quite literally crying this is by no measure of comparison because nothing could compete the best Christmas present I could have ever gotten for this year or last year I guess. So incredibly detailed and well done and beautiful. I just wanna gush about it till the cows. Come home. I don’t even have cows. I will buy cows and make them come home so you will know how great this is. A tiny pieces of embroidery, the lace the mesh on ussop.! Everyone has their own color palette their own theme. Your lighting is beautiful the textures you create with it is amazing. I can tell the difference between silk cotton and denim just by your lighting and shading. It is so incredibly good. You are an amazing artist.
Not to mention ussops hair oh my God! The shark tooth necklace, the slightly patterned jeans, the color scheme you have been down to a T! He is so pretty like the rest of them. I’m just ahhhh I want to eat them. It’s the small details that were praying a character together, and I mentioned the lighting because holy shit the lighting the shading on Sanji is fabulous the silk the small, tiny embroidery THE SMALL TINY EMBROIDERY! it’s so well done so detailed you make white seem like a color more than a shade and I don’t know how you do it because it’s so amazing. Also the braids in his hair and his nose! I’m stealing that I’m using that design from now on and forever. And Luffy my baby are sweet boy— he’s just so squishy he’s so round but also thin and my God he looks really just like his live action actor mixed with his anime design the way you mix the two is just chef’s kiss. And if the embroidery on Sanji was beautiful, his is lovely and delicate and I have no idea how you do that. I am so goddamn jealous. The yellow and the red somehow you don’t make it look like McDonald’s colors. I don’t know how you do that? But you’ve done it and it’s amazing. And chopper the other baby! He’s so small it fits so well in the to the composition of the piece when the light shines off his little hat, his nose tilted down his antlers. He’s freaking perfect a one for one. and Nami my queen my goddess you have done her so good here! Literally, she was the first one my eyes were attracted to, and oh my God oh my God! I’m not gonna lie. She’s probably my favorite out of a bunch because you got her down and somehow made her better ! And her skin that I mentioned that you were really good with lighting because you’re really good with lighting, but wow 😮 you added just enough with the accessories like the hair ornament the bracelets, the bright pink colors, the embroidery on the pants the embroidery on the pants. I’m never gonna be able to get over that— but not too much that it overwhelms her design how everything ties back into itself the embroidery ties back into her hair the bikini bottom I’m actually,nsuqsdnjwdcmsqxhwdxbadncj!!!! I’m not gonna lie. It’s so fucking hot. You’ve made her hotter somehow I don’t know how this is possible but she’s amazing and I love her and I love how you just added everything to her and then plus one. Like the tattoo, it just keeps going back into each other. Mentioning tattoos, ZORO HOLY SHIT HOW HE HOT YOU HOW TATTOOED WOW IM WOW! For a moment there, I forgot his original character design didn’t have a tattoo. You so seamlessly added to his design and I’m like yeah would have a tattoo and it would be tribal-esc, this lighting on his hair is so rich and vibrant. He doesn’t blend into the green in the background at all, which is amazing and I am once again jealous.
You had such richness and texture and movement to your pieces even the background you can see just splotches of color that infer instead of telling you what’s there. The background must’ve taken forever and oh my God I pray for your hands and carpal tunnel. It’s just so consistent and so beautiful with so many different moving parts and colors and so seamlessly works together. Nothing stands out too much that it looks like it’s non-analogous with the painting as a whole everything flows together. I am in love and I’m making this my background on my phone. I will take a goddamn picture and show it to you.

I put so much details and used all my techniques and you saw everything and of course you did you always do and I love that so much!!!!!! The COLORS I am so glad you like the colors, I wanted everyone to have their signature colors but I wanted the whole piece to be vibrant and bold and I’m glad you want to eat them that was the point I wanted them to look like they were bright pieces of candy. I adore texture and I love how light can tell so much about what something is (shut up, claude monet) so I am thrilled to have gotten all the fabrics to be so recognizable. Luffy’s coat is red velvet and his sash is silk and that was fun to color. To be fair I use a more buttery yellow to keep red and yellow from looking like Mcdonalds.

This is the Ltverse so everyone is dressed as more intense versions of themselves and of course in the Lt they all take care of their appearance religiously, like ahhhh Usopp’s hair! It’s one of my favorite parts, he’d take such good care of it and style it and he and Brook help each other with it, and the shark’s tooth is a gift from Zoro to him. I wanted Usopp to look FINE. The idea is that he has a dedicated Beatles-esque fanbase in the LT who hype him up and go rabid over him. Sanji’s braids represent Zeff’s braids since Sanji doesn’t have a beard, Sanij has blackwork embroidery on his silk shirt because hey he’s Blackleg Sanji, and he has royal heritage, and who traditionally wears blackwork? Steal his nose please! LUFFY I wanted him to look rich like the prince he is too so he gets that costly embroidery on everything you know it’s real gold. But then he has Ace’s beads as a bracelet. I am so glad he comes off both squishy and thin, he’s a kid still but yet he has a sense of etherealness, like his embroidery he’s lovely and delicate. Delicate because LtLuffy is a lot more high-strung than canon Luffy. Plus the being a literal god thing. I will never be able to choose between opla luffy and anime luffy so it’s both of them forever
Chopper he’s small he’s so small he had to be cute as hell I wanted to make him look like he’s a little stuffed animal hanging off of Nami’s belt that’s Robin’s labubu sir and NAAMMMII I will not lie either I wanted Nami to be as hot as she possibly could be I wanted her to look like a goddess, I am Sanji. You said once she needed to wear more pink so pink it was. I will be honest I put the most work into her because hey it’s her and yesss it paid off. not to sound like Buffalo Bill but I am so proud of what I did with her skin. The pose she’s in has very specific lighting I was fighting for my life finding the right tone to make it look alive. There is not much to really add to Nami because she is perfect, she is dressed like she’s at coachella, she’s the moment, she’s better than everyone and she knows it. her hairpeice is a gold comb I wanted to give her a layered pear necklace but I didn’t want to cover the decolletage after all the shading;)

I’ve been looking for an excuse to use that one and god he is sexy tattooed. not that he’s missing anything in his canon design but tattoos work so good on him he should have had one. I had to leave his head sticking out so he wouldn’t blend in with the grass. And of course he’s being an asshole and messing around with Nami’s hair because of course. He’s in a towel he doesn’t care plus I love his back.
Not me trying to do impressionism over here but that’s what it is I love color splotches that infer I love controlled roughess in coloring the TEXTUREEEE. I will steal all of Monet’s paintings. My hands and neck are done for but hey who cares, not I.
